Fans of squarepusher, jega, and u-ziq will really appreciate this live act... Begin forwarded message: Date: Tue, 26 Aug 2003 13:27:38 -0700 From: Brian DeWaide <funkyjoint@earthlink.net> To: siamese@siamesebeat.com Subject: Siamese EastCoast Trinity announced The SIAMESE TRINITY ANNOUNCEMENT: New drum'n'bass trio Siamese provide EXTENSIVE auditory and visual stimulation to the trained eye + ear. Lock In. Banging bass, massive sin-wave washes, live jungle drum rhythms, bending intelligent light beams. While inside, Find Out. Siamese gives sensations ordinary bands do not. Obvious visible progression of music itself. Always challenging, always changing, always ingenuitive. Fast, formidable and unforgiving. Two years ago, amid the Seattle improv and loft scene, Three producer / musicians collided into one entity -creating Siamese. The in-demand drum-molester DJ Sawka -initially the most visibly innovative, for obvious reasons- performs on a half-acoustic, half-electronic drum kit (with two, sometimes three snares and a couple kick drums) alongside a rack of effects, delays and wah-pedals to create realtime, acoustically-created, drum'n'bass and jungle rhythms at tempos unheard of by any band before Siamese -sounding not unlike Dieselboy or a more linear, driving Amon Tobin. Enter Concussion Head (aka Dave Z) on Korg, Rhodes, keyboards, and Klein guitar; utilizing two different output sources (two Fender amps) he often plays both instruments at the same time, none of which sounds like one might expect by conventional standards (this is drum'n'bass after all). Super sub-bassist / voicist Jeremy Lightfoot, while onstage, leaves his body and selflessly gives himself to achieving the most correct drum'n'bass bass riff impossible -he does not perform, he channels. To reach this sub nirvana, his bass guitar is not all he uses to achieve those massive sub-bass frequencies: Jeremy sometimes "sings" the bass parts using his voice to fill out the frequency. And so -in the interim- live drum'n'bass has ascended new levels and encounters the trio Siamese. Welcome. At first, it will be hard not to blink; later it will be hard not to watch. But to only watch is to miss out on the true premise of Siamese alpha and omega, the Answer to your question. Shake your boyfriends out of their trance ladies, and tell them to Dance. Either shake it faster than you have ever shaken it, or break it down half-time and look SOULFUL. Make him NOTICE. The essence of Siamese is in the energy given. Intense, dirty, shaken to the core: that's what they'll give you. A massive vibe, overwhelming and pure. The Dance Floor. Deliberate, challenging, beautiful sounds. Time to Show Your Stuff. The reward . . . is satiating. The new masses find pleasure in dance. The new masses find pleasure in hedonism, in tribalism, in revelry -and Siamese aims to please. Revel with us in an overabundance of sounds ic, a bed of beats, and a sky of lights. Uniquely and undeniably unlike any other band out there today, this is live drum'n'bass Siamese.
