Hey all, just wanted to say the new moor music comp is really good. For anyone out there who has not heard anything of this label check something out, its really all good. If you like melodic electronic in the vein of isan, arovane, phonem ect you really need to take a peek at thier catalog. Been told, that H&K's Our Noise anf Kickboard Girl are must-haves. Is all of Morr music that good? Pardon the ignorance, it's been a while. But it's interesting to note, upon rejoining the list after a few years, the first messages to pop into my box are the "Is IDM dead" threads, and the obligatoriy arguments surrounding its definition. Kickboardgirl is an amazing record. You should also pickup the H&K Transalpin e.p. on CCO. However, I found Our Noise to be a big disappointment. I guess I had really high expectations for H&K's first full length and they just failed to deliver. If you like H&K, you should definitely check out all the Ulrich Schnauss stuff on CCO. and generally speaking, if you like the Morr sound, you'll like CCO stuff, though CCO is sometimes a little more abstract. As far as the rest of the Morr catalogue is concerned, it's absolutely essential that you get the first comp on the label "Putting the Morr back in Morrissey" it's possibly the best compilation i own -- truly stunning. and much better than the "Blue Skied an' Clear" comp, imo. I also highly recommend the B. Fleischman releases on Morr "Pop Loops for Breakfast" and "Sidonie" Morr is pretty much my favorie label. i buy everything they put out and only a few have been disappointing. one final note -- the new Static record on CCO is absolutely fantastic! where his two previous records had a one or two really good songs, this record is just great from beginning to end. he's really hit his stride here. the record has a nice poppy feel, but it's still just abstact enough to keep it interesting and fresh sounding, imo. hope that helps. dave Ami <ami@fastmail.fm> wrote: Been told, that H&K's Our Noise anf Kickboard Girl are must-haves. depends on what you're after, i'd imagine... for the indietronic/poppy/shoegazer-influenced stuff, yeah H&K are definitely a good place to start. we can't forget about LALI PUNA, though, as both LP lps are pure class. other solid morr releases in this vein: both MANUAL albums (as mentioned previously), some of the ISAN stuff, the BLUE SKIED AN' CLEAR (2cd) compilation, and the LIMP album, "orion". if you also enjoy the less indie-influenced stuff (i.e. more classic experimental/idm), i cannot recommend CHRISTIAN KLEINE enough, his "valis" album is superb. i second the PHONEM notion, and will also single out one of my faves on morr, POPULOUS. you might also want to check some/most of the stuff on CITY CENTRE OFFICES as well. cheers asg --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Admittedly, the melodies may be sweet and serene at times but the 'serenity' is kind of undermined by the profusion of glitch, crunch, and skitteriness.
