PLAID SPEAK ON SPOKES
http://www.burntblue.com/news/news.asp?News=4016
Warp has announced details of the forthcoming album
from innovative electronica duo Plaid. The album will
be called ?Spokes?, and will hit the streets on
October 20. What?s more, in mood at least, the new
release is said to hark back to Ed Handley and Andy
Turner?s pre Plaid work as part of The Black Dog
alongside Ken Downie. In an official statement issued
on www.warprecords.com the pair explain the
germination of the album? ?The seeds of the album were
sown as we toured America and Europe during 2002 and
many of the venues we played now have small Spokes
trees growing in their dressing rooms and toilets.
However, some of these initial ideas went terribly
wrong and Plaid would like to take this opportunity to
apologise for any distress we may have caused during
the course of their experimentation. We can only pray
for Carston Banister. After returning home with the
basic working structures of the album in place, five
months were spent in the studio editing, enhancing,
mixing and removing some of the more extreme emotional
content until one night in May, when covert Warp
agents were finally able to extract these ten finished
tracks."?
?
Ed and Andy have also been working on a surround sound
DVD project which should see the light of day next
year, and have a number of live dates scheduled with
live collaborator and video artist Bob, as well as DJ
dates??
