Hey campers, Its time for the semi regular update and listing of events. Before we get started, I'd like to thank everyone who came out to our recent events, Funkstorung was nothing short of amazing and playing at the Ghostly night was a blast as expected, do pick up their latest releases, the idol tryouts comp, lusine 12" and kill memory crash 12" releases are gems. On with items: [1] Press: The Record Camp Label has been getting some really great press of late, check out The Wire this month (Yo la tengo on the cover) for an excellent review of both of our releases in the Critical beats section. Modsquare has a nice review (http://www.modsquare.com/more.php?id=128_0_8_0_M) and while you're there check out the Secret Agent Gel interview and Miles Tilmann as well. Igloo mag also supports the release with an excellent review (http://www.igloomag.com/document.php?task=view <http://www.igloomag.com/document.php?task=view&id=416&category=reviews> &id=416&category=reviews) . In Addition to that our other project, Activaire, has genereated a nice buzz lately, There was a nice article in wired.com this past week (http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,59270,00.html). In case you haven't seen it, there was also a great intro to what we're about in Metropolis magazine a few months back (see: http://www.metropolismag.com/html/content_0303/ob/ob09_0303.html) There's also a bunch of free downloads supporting the article, can't beat that. [2] Events: 1. Friday June 27th on WNYU 89.1 FM (or streaming via http://www.wnyu.org) Lara and myself dj as part of the Rotations series, we'll be playing from 10:30 - 1 and expect us to turn your hot friday night at home into a rave (of sorts, hehe) I've pulled a lot of classic Warp releases (hmm I wonder why?) and Lara's got some sweet electro planned. Do expect some post punk and hip hop too, it is record camp afterall. 2. Saturday June 28th @ Pianos, 158 Ludlow Street, Manhattan. This show starts promptly at 9 so be on time. Oh and it's $7 and $5 with flyer or printout of this here email. See the flyer here: http://www.recordcamp.com/temp/j28.html We're really excited about this one, should be another blow out like our last saturday party at pianos. We're hosting the Merck, Musik Aus Strom (funkstorung's label), Toytronic tour featuring the electronic dance music stylings of Mr Projectile, Miles Tilmann and Adam Johnson. These guys have mad a name for themselves by making lush electronica and you should come out and check it out. We've also got some great openning acts, Ogurusu Norihide from Carpark records (and Japan) joins us as well as Sky Tucker and Sulako (who was one of our first live acts ever). Upstairs will feature the djing of Lara, Radeus, Tim Sweeney and Trent from Six Records. We've got a great VJ for the show as well, Ryan Junell (check out this awesome video he did for Matmos sideproject Soft pink truth http://www.texasmonkey.com/softpinktruth/) 3. Future... Lara and Adesh make dj appearances next month at undercity and control nyc (more details soon) and in big ass event news, Record Camp and Warp records will be dropping an ill party on your asses in august, keep an ass out for that. [3] Website: Damn we're too busy, updates are coming, will hands appreciated :-) Theres a box of promos that need reviewing ;-) [4] Label: There's some really great news on the label front but I can't really tell you about that yet. I will say that the one and only Freeform has delivered his remix for our upcoming remix 12" of Celine's "In the sun" single and it's f'ing incredible!!! The Thought Universe EP should be in stores sometime within the next few months and it's both gorgeous and dirty electro, if you're in the manchester area, you've got to go catch a thought universe show, it's a wonderful and sweaty experience. [5.] While we have your attention: There's a great overview of our buddy Michael Place's work over at computer love (http://www.computerlove.net/build/) you can take a good long look at some of those recamp sleeves while you're there. Our pals in Manchester Ghetto Blast have some noce shows coming up (see: http://www.ghettoblast.co.uk). Req and Kid Acne up in their pieces! Hmm, theres much more but I should get back to work :-) Thanks for reading, see you out or on. Celebrate the bold button. Adesh
