I've been listening to the recent self-titled Ceephax double CD and I'm really liking it. I'd definitely be interested to hear him trying on a Big Loada sound. More importantly, I'm curious if anyone can share some insight as to what the current Squarepusher show will be like. When I saw him two years ago, it didn't seem very live. Tom Jenkinson mostly drank vodka and yelled at the crowd while he "played" Go Plastic songs. But somehow it was instantly redeemed after getting to hear that breakdown on Bonneville Occident on an amazing sound system. I had some friends who saw the show from last years somewhat failed tour and from what I gathered from that, it was mostly the same kind of affair. So I didn't even really like Do You Know Squarepusher that much. Anyone know what has been in a Squarepusher set recently? I'll be damned if I never get to see that guy play the bass. -Aaron ----- Original Message ----- From: Iain Forfar <iain@forfar72.freeserve.co.uk> Date: Thursday, June 19, 2003 2:23 pm Subject: [idm] SQUAREPUSHER LIVE! w/LUKE VIBERT IN LA!!!

From recent reports he's back playing bass again. Neil --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

My wife and I were in London a couple weeks ago, and saw the Club Sonar show on the 30th. Bass guitar was definitely happening, and he was a maniac with the pedals. The set was hard, fast, unrelenting. His stage demeanor was quite different from the reports from a couple years back -- He was fairly animated on stage (as much as one can be while still standing behind his rig) - it probably helped since he was playing the bass Near the middle it sounded like he was going for power noise, but in actuality it was probably because the lowend he was pushing blew out one or more mains. he took the time to let everyone know that he thought the sound was shitty, and there was a soundguy running around on stage trying to fix problems in the middle of the set. Regardless, it was a blast. I'm looking forward to seeing him over here in the states next month. Had not seen Ladytron or the 'pusher before - both put on great sets. Didn't really get too much into Colder, and since that particular side room was so hot, we opted to stay in the main area. -Josh
