My wife and I were in London a couple weeks ago, and
saw the Club Sonar show on the 30th.
Bass guitar was definitely happening, and he was a
maniac with the pedals. The set was hard, fast,
unrelenting. His stage demeanor was quite different
from the reports from a couple years back -- He was
fairly animated on stage (as much as one can be while
still standing behind his rig) - it probably helped
since he was playing the bass Near the middle it
sounded like he was going for power noise, but in
actuality it was probably because the lowend he was
pushing blew out one or more mains. he took the time
to let everyone know that he thought the sound was
shitty, and there was a soundguy running around on
stage trying to fix problems in the middle of the set.
Regardless, it was a blast. I'm looking forward to
seeing him over here in the states next month.
Had not seen Ladytron or the 'pusher before - both put
on great sets. Didn't really get too much into Colder,
and since that particular side room was so hot, we
opted to stay in the main area.
