Just a quick update on the Lex show in London and a lush Tes review... SOLEXISM 5 Well, it's been a hectic week getting ready for Solexism but it's worked out pretty well - it looked like superstar MC Jemini The Gifted One wasn't going to make it, but the latest reports from Danger Mouse are that the pair are flying out today, phew! There's tons of tickets sold and no further hitches with artists. I'm looking forward to enjoying the show tomorrow. * PERFORMING LIVE : BOOM BIP / BUCK65 / DANGER MOUSE & JEMINI / EDAN & INSIGHT / JEL / POLE WITH MC FAT JON / TES / THEMSELVES / PLUS DJs * Tickets are still on sale everywhere today and tomorrow and there should be around 100 on the door too. * Tickets £13 advance from: www.plasticpeople.co.uk or from the Plastic People club (147 Curtain Road EC2) during club hours (tickets picked up from the club have no booking fee), Stargreen (Oxford Circus 020 7734 8932) www.stargreen.com , Rough Trade (Covent Garden 0207 240 0105), Smallfish (Old Street 0207 739 2252) TES 9/10 REVIEW IN THE NME The Tes album is in shops in Europe this week and the press is still rolling in: "Awesome urban hop-hop from the Big Apple. New York resident Terrence Tessora is a man with heart-swelling affection for his great city. Indeed much of "x2" deals with his feelings in the aftermath of September 11. It's a record brimming with courage and hope, which also provides a document of the skills this bright MC brings to the table of smart, sussed innovative hip-hop. "x2" sounds not unlike great moments from hippy rap collective Arrested Development, only uprooted from bohemia and relocated to the urban sprawl of the Big Apple. Consider the lolloping breakbeat of "Change" and Tes' speedy lyrical delivery. "New New York", meanwhile is an early contender for this summer's breeziest tune. A renaissance man of flair and wit, clearly Tes is hip-hop's brightest new hop." 9/10 James Jam, The NME (26th April 2003) * You can also read about Tes in this weeks X-ray magazine. P.R.A.H.A. . The release date for Boom Bip "From Left To Right" EP has been moved to mid-May. More details soon. . If I haven't answered your e-mail I probably will... I've just got a lot on. I'm on holiday next week and back on 5th May. . Is this "Pole with MC Fat Jon" the same Pole who runs scape, aka Stefan Betke? Seems like a slightly strange inclusion in this lineup, and I've never heard of him working with an MC (tho I'd love to, if it worked together well). Curious, bvl http://www.chromedecay.org || http://www.thinkbox.ca --
