+-- THE PASSENGERS LIST +-- APRIL 2003 +-- The Passengers List is the the sporadic, sometimes extremely rare, mailing list for the music label Skylab Operations and it's many other projects, including our net.label, Observatory Online, and soon to be weekly streaming radio show The Landing party. You are receiving this email because you or someone you know signed you up through our various websites. If you believe you are receiving this email in error, please click the following link to be removed and enter the email address with which you're subscribed. >> www.skylaboperations.com/passengers/mailer.php?remove +-- CONTENTS +- 1. LIFTOFF Yikes, I was just informed that I missed March. Is that really true? Jinkies, well, if true, it WAS a hectic month, so, there's my excuse. Why was it hectic you ask? Well, first, we flew over the atlantic straight into war-crazy America for a 3 week vacation / label tour! This time only the North East, later this year, probably North East + Mid-West, and then we're going to Japan (that's right!). Or perhaps we'll just stay in Europe, hell, I dunno yet. So, bits and pieces of information and updates right here. Passengers style! +-- 2. Skylab Operations VS. Northeast USA For those not in the know, we've recently returned from a 3 week long vacation/mini-tour in the US of YAY. A quick apology to all those waiting for mail-order packages from us. The tour consisted of 6 days of travelling the north-east with Accelera Deck, I am Robot and Proud, Phasmid, & Satellite Grooves. It was a great adventure and everyone we met everywhere we went were just outstanding people. I have a quick thank you list up at www.skylaboperations.com and will shortly have some smooth photos of the trip. Give me a day or three. The rest of our vacation consisted of us hanging out in Spring Hill, Florida at our family's lovely tiki/pool area. You don't want to know about that. For other people's photos of our recent trip, take a gander at these sites, and browse around.

+-- 3. Slinger / Accelera Deck "(21:15) / Fire Maps" CD [SKY23] Fresh off of that trip, we're extremely proud to announce the final release of the Slinger / Accelera Deck Split CD. Packed in slim-line 'clamshell' cases, with full colour on-cd print. Slinger brings their epic debut, "(21:15)", a devastating track built entirely on improvised drums and real time synthesis. The music within is explosive, and dynamic, the very moment of creation where dust and gas particles within a nebula spin faster and faster, gravity forcing a slow collapse inward. Accelera Deck contributes 9 songs of destroyed bliss, and shrapnel of white-out melody. Fire Maps is a blueprint for how to destroy a 1967 Fender Jazz-master, and resides comfortably between Mego Music's binary opposition, and My Bloody Valentines blistering sensuality. Now available through our online shop, and shortly through our related distributors and mail-orders. +-- 4. Phasmid "Her Friend the Blue Star + Remixes" 2xCD [SKY16] The glistening debut from Phasmid is almost onto it's second pressing and pleasing many around the world. Featuring remixes from friends such as B.Fleischmann (Morr), Isan (Morr), Bochum Welt (Rephlex), I am Robot and Proud, Figurine (Monika), Printed Circuit, and many others, this release is packed with over 2 hours of highly enjoyable blisstronics, taking on a tour of the Blue Star, free of charge. Now, for those in the USA, don't worry, we haven't left you out. You are now able to order directly from our friendly mail-order partners in the US, so, to do that, click your heels three times and follow the yellow-link road:

+-- 5. Skylab Operations E-Store Updates For the PayPal (www.paypal.com) enabled, we bring to you direct mail-order, post-paid in Europe and elsewhere, and at a much better price than you'll probably find elsewhere. After our recent trip, we've added a slew of new items, including the final remaining copies of our older releases from AM/FM (now on Polyvinyl) and Her Space Holiday (now on Tiger Style / EMI).

and Accelera Deck style 1", laser quality buttons. Only $2 to add to your existing order. Unfortunately, we have had to re-adjust prices in order to compensate for an Austrian Postal System rise in prices, effective April 1, 2003. This was only a rise of $1 per item on some items, except 12" vinyl, which unfortunately falls into a higher postal bracket, therefore is now like, $3 more just in shipping costs. Are these people crooks or what? +-- 6. Accelera Deck "Lullexo" MP3EP Accelera Deck offers another chapter in his epic quest, titled "Lullexo". This item is available free for download, in high-quality MP3 format from: http://scarcelight.com/Lullexo/ While you're there, feel free to order the related limited edition 3" release, "Lulluxa", released by Scarcelight shortly before the Skylab Operations tour. http://scarcelight.com/slr/slr11.html +-- 7. International Independent Electronic Music Chat Initiative Several labels, led by Skylab Operations, have implemented a JAVA based communications script into their sites, in order to further promote and enhance the community-aspect of the independent electronic music family. This enables you to meet and greet, in real-time chat, the fans, artists, designers, and thinkers involved with many wonderful labels, art groups, recording groups, and more in an intimate and friendly chat environment. Now, EVERY THURSDAY, from 3pm EST --> ? you're welcome to come meet & greet the people behind the labels and music you love, or maybe just like a little bit. This is our first attempt at scheduling set chat meeting times, so, please feel free to join in and get your communication on, and make us feel like we're doing something productive and beneficial to the online electronic music community. +-- 8. Touchdown: Observatory Online > The Future Some of you may have noticed the recent lack of updates for Observatory (www.observatoryonline.org). This is not due to lack of interest, more due to Skylab Operations work and our recent trip and so forth. We have about 10 releases waiting for release, which will be up shortly, after we do a complete retrofit of the Observatory website. We're going back to a contrasty black/white design. Minimal and much cleaner and easier to navigate than our most recent version. Sorry, we're just like that. The future of Skylab Operations is slowing down. We're expecting the Headphone Science CD [SKY19] in early summer, followed by the I am Robot and Proud 12", Kenric McDowell CD, and Hellothisisalex CD. After that, we are officially taking a break, until we can recover from our lack of funds and slowly promoting all of our releases in every corner of the world possible. Look for future release announcements later in 2003, with new releases starting to popup from us in 2004. Thank you again for your time and interest.
