The new Gescom EP arrived this week and I'd be interested in hearing others' thoughts regarding it. Personally, the first time I listened to it, I was disappointed - the relatively simple rhythmic passages and occasional other sounds did not intrigue me very much at all. Upon further listens, however, I'm finding it more interesting - it is still far from anything spectacular (and I still loathe "Tr2a") but the general ambience and imagery conveyed by the other tracks, particularly "Slow Acid" is at times superb. On "Iss:Sa" and "Tangle III" there's a definite Booth/Brown influence that seems to derive from the LP5/EP7 period, which makes me wonder how old these tracks are. Anyone else? TR2A is on a live Ae set from Feb of 1999 i've heard that also had that track from MASK ?00, the "boogie down bronx" or whatever, and "mcr quarter" from the japanese confeld cd, so i'd assume there's some booth/brown influence on that track too... I really like this EP, but I love listening to the MD all the time too... -- - jA! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I heard a couple of the tracks can be found on an autechre live bootleg from Coachella festival in 1999, so the LP5/EP7 comprison sounds just about right. I quite like the EP, but because it came out the same time as Draft 7.30 (which is the best Ae release for ages IMO) I find it suffers a bit by comparison. Megamix is loopy good for mixing.. the real gems here are ISS SA and Slow Acid. The first being one of AE live's most beautiful pieces and the second absolute gorgeous brilliance --- Jacob Arnold <jacob@gridface.com> wrote:
