cut and paste from a posting by triton@somewhere.com incl. his remastered afx mp3's . it only reminds you of what a great piece of work Drukqs is compared to all that crap and sleepy stuff released . oh and ......btw....the tracks can be found right now at : alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.electronic or slsk find the nice guy called :i KISS you aRTiST : Aphex Twin tiTLE : Melodies From Mars sTYLE : early idm / video game sountrack lABEL : (unreleased) cAT-nR : fORMAT : unknown tRACKS : 11 sOURCE : 24bit / 44.1KHz / 256k mp3 eNCODER : Audioactive 2.0.4j qUALiTY : 160k CBR, ISO, 20kHz Cutoff, MS-Joint Stereo coMMeNTS : I remastered these old bootleg recordings, they deserve to be heard in the original sound quality, while also being mastered for the digital age. i think you will find these selections to be of finest sound quality, possably like hearing again for the first time. =) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aphex Twin - DrukQs (Hard Tracks Remaster) I love this record, and the original master. But after listening to it a few (too many) times I started to really hear the typical "Warped tin can" sound that Warp almost always has on thier records. Sounds really flat and stale. None of the tracks really sound like they go together as much as they could. So I pulled out all my tricks on this one. Pre-emphasis, gentile stereo image enhancement, bass shuffling, multiband dynamics processing, and a new trick I found called MaxxBass (www.maxxbass.com) Using it, the clarity of the bass in the recording has been greatly improved. Besides the bass sounding better on small speakers, these play (way) louder before distorting and have more punch. 'Gwety Mernans' & 'Orban EQ Trx 4' were already distorted, fixed what I could. This is pretty funny, Orban is the name of a Pro Audio company that makes high- end DSP units for the radio industry. (www.orban.com) I wouldn't pay us$8500 for something that adds distortion to any of my tracks, would Aphex? Probably! m o n e y t o b u r n -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
