Vladislav Delay
'Contemporary electronic music has emerged as one of the most pervasive
forms of experimental music of recent times. This event features performers
who use new technologies to create a uniquely digital sound. Vladislav Delay
is at the forefront of international electronic music. Part ambient, part
percussive, Delay's music is infused with an elegiac quality. Aural
fragments loop and overlay creating clouds of granular, occasionally
corrosive sonic textures.' At ARS Electonica Festival in Austria 2001,
Vladislav Delay transformed the park near the river Danube into an
impressive acoustic environment, 'music for a river and for passers-by'
while a recent UK performance at the Tate Modern seduced with its
improvisational dynamics.
Originally trained as a Jazz percussionist , as well as studying percussion
from a wide range of the world's music's, Delay has in the past
acknowledged influences from "reggae, dub and most of all Afro-American
music; Cuban, African, Brazilian..." while his music has continued to
develop its own unique and distinctive style
