"It is not just a rhetorical flight of demonstrators' fancy: in cold reality, George W. Bush is indeed a far greater threat to world peace than Saddam Hussein." http://www.gvnews.net/html/Crisis/gvabs069.html Was Sheikh Mohammed, the so-called "mastermind" of the 9-11 attacks, really captured? Robert Fisk, Middle East correspondent for the Independent explains how it could easily be a lie... http://www.robert-fisk.com/articles176.htm If you oppose a corrupt invasion of Iraq by the U.S. and Britain, speak up before it's too late! Stay tuned! ------------------------------------------- RELATED RELEASE NEWS: -The legendary Soul Jazz label (http://www.souljazzrecords.co.uk) has started up a new electronic sublabel called 'Micro-Solutions for Mega-Problems". From: "Seth (by way of pietrobot RECOMMENDED ENTERTAINMENT... reading: "High-Rise" by J.G. Ballard (out of print but worth searching for) http://www.strangewords.com/archive/highrise.html ____________________________________________________________________ Indeed: that is one of Ballard's best dystopian novels. 'Crystal World', 'Wind from Nowhere', 'Drowned World' and 'Burned World' are all worth reading: Ballard's science is right-on: he was a non-fiction science journalist prior to making his living writing fiction. But what makes his stuff 'work' is how the environmental changes wreck havoc on the emotions and consciousnness of his characters: he loves sticking an individual or a couple in the middle of the mess, and watching them fall apart, as nature/reality goes haywire around them. (John Wyndham was also good at the same thing, though not as great as Ballard, IMO.) 'Crash' is of course his most famous: it's ~sexy~: ~auto~-erotic. ;) 'Concrete Island' would be a perfect one to read after (or before!) 'Crash': and play some early Orbital tunes whilst reading both!! ;) Here's a fun Ballard short, coupled with the Alfred ('Ubu Roi') Jarry story that Ballard is mirroring: http://www.evergreenreview.com/102/fiction/preduo.html Excellent intro to Ballard, published by Re:Search: http://www.researchpubs.com/books/ballprod.shtml Reading Is funDaMental! ;) =seek= --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
