OK people!!!!
Once a year WFMU does it's fundraising marathon. WFMU is 100% completely
supported by listeners-that means no government funding, no commercials of
any kind; no corporate ?sponsorship? just whatever cash the listeners from
around the world can cough up. All the DJ's (including myself) on air are
all volunteers, and I can guarantee you that we all do this job for our love
of the music and support of the international scene.
That said, this is my first year at the station which means that this year's
fundraiser means a lot to me, and to the long-term viability of "Advanced
D&D". I've tried very hard for the past year to support any people that
have sent in demos and promos, have hosted numerous live acts to rock
exclusive sets, and have been posting playlists and answering emails
religiously in an effort to help expose folks to some new tracks by new
people.
All that said, I need your help!
PLEASE (I'm begging at this point) help us out by logging onto to our
website (www.wfmu.org) and donating at any time over the next 2 weeks. But
if you can, PLEASE email or call our toll free number during the D&D radio
show this week 2-6 am (that's mid-late morning in Europe, not that late at
night on the west coast, and afternoon in Japan/Asia). Every dollar that my
show brings in for the station proves that people want to hear experimental
electronic music, IDM, breakcore, or whatever you want to call it. If you
can't call or email this week, you can always claim your support for the
"Advanced D&D" show.
But even if you don't lend your support to my show, please just give to the
station, it's a fantastic entity, one of those last few organizations that
are struggling to remain_alive and well in a society that is brokered by
corporations.
One more great reason to pledge to WFMU is that you can get great stuff for
your donated dollars!
For only 60 dollars you can get the exclusive CD "Unreleases" containing 19
songs by unsigned and emerging artists making complex, and powerful music
ranging from Black Metal manipulation to cut-up Exotica, to janglely
computer Pop, all pushing the limits of experimental electronic music.
Culled form the growing stack of demos I receive, this collection of tracks
will surely be an experience for even the most seasoned listener/fan.
