im considering downloading a copy of real player to use to listen to audio on the net in their format. however, ive been wary of doing so because i hear the program is pretty bad at adware and spam, and ends up running on your computer alll the time in the background, with no way to adjust preferences to avoid such things. are all the horror stories true? i really want to listen to some of the stuff out there in real audio format, but i dont want to screw my computer up just to do that. any advice...? -thad ===== Thad Biggerstaff ~ReSource~ daht73@yahoo.com http://www.biggerstaff.homestead.com/ "Not to forget, I 'museumize' myself; so that then I pay myself a visit and find me again in all the relics, to hand down memories from one to the other, like a genealogical tree, as if it were morning!" - Massimo Toniutti "Everything is a sign of something greater than itself." - a friend __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? If you run a Windows where you can do so, reboot into DOS and delete the realsched.exe file. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Or simply go into preferences and disable startcenter and auto-updating. Also, consider *not* installing RealOne but rather Real8. I could have sworn I answered this question in depth on another list but I checked my email archives an must have deleted it... In short, go to http://www.real.com and search for where to download older versions. It's a bit hard to find older version but be sure that RealOne is most definitely *not* recommended!
