Ok, the last thing I'll say about this. Yes, I see your point, but the fact that is that if you look at FM radio in the United States, SIRIUS is defiantely 180 degrees from that. Maybe they aren't underground, but they do have the "Left of Center" channel which is dedicated to unsigned bands. That alone is the most anit-corporate thing you could find on radio. Plus, they played BoC on the Vortex channel. ;P The manifesto is marketing, but then again wasn't the real Communist manifesto marketing? Fact is, everything is marketing... you should know. I'd rather here this kind of marketing, than the usual safe bets corps play.

The Communist Manifesto was marketing? Ummm... no! Sure, parts were written to appeal to the sensibilities of the proletariat, but marketing is intrinsically linked to someone trying to turn a dollar. Marx and Engel were definitely not trying to sell out the lower class. And what Greg's problem seems to be is that the people at Sirius are commodifying this anti-corporate attitude for their corporate means. I think it sucks too, but it is a common practice in the advertising industry. Selling the images of subcultures and anything living in opposition to the mainstream is everywhere and its nothing new. But it still sucks. So congrats to Sirius for playing BOC tracks when Clear Channel won't, but they are still part of the problem. Until the solution comes along, I'll stick to WFMU's amazing 128kbs stream. -Aaron --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It's hard for me to believe that someone who attends/has attended NYU can't read. I guess another stereotype bites the dust. Ben --- Aaron Meyers <adm226@nyu.edu> wrote:

Ok, since you want to be a smart ass at my expense in front of the whole list, maybe you'd like to elaborate on exactly how I can't read. On Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at 12:48 PM, ben gill wrote:

Your reply indicates that you don't understand my point (which means, unfortunately, that I think my original post is correct--you can't read). I included your communist manifesto comment to indicate the subject of my statement. The code to my apparently nebulous riddle is: you misread "manifesto" in the author's post. He didn't mean Marx and Engels. Very simple, isn't it? That you'd be so conncerned as to want me to clarify the point is alarming. Ben --- Aaron Meyers <adm226@nyu.edu> wrote:
