well, it's not IDM, but the new AntiPop Consortium album with Matthew
Shipp is really nice. It's somewhat controversial, as a lot of my hip
hop elitist friends don't like it that much, but hey, i'm a big jazz fiend.
Susumu Yokota's Boy and the Tree album is delicious. The Postal Service
album is quite fun.
i've also been really into Arvo Pärt, an Estonian neo classical
composer. his pieces are simply hypnotic and gorgeous. I recommend
fratres and tabula rosa for starters.
there's a great cd you can find that has fratres, tabula rosa, and his
third symphony all in one concert performed by the Estonian
philharmonic. I feel it has the best version of fratres, with a
gorgeous performance on the violin. Very rhythmic and structural, kind
of like IDM classical music.
