...when a live recording of this is available. And then 3281 when I've finally got to hear it in it's entirety. The late composer John Cage's "As Slow As Possible," now being played once, lasting 639 years, at a church in Halberstadt, Germany, has so far taken 17 months just to get the organ's bellows inflated and now will take 18 months more just to play the composition's first three notes, according to a February BBC report

There was a great interview with the guys organising it one morning on BBC Radio 4 a few weeks back. You _might_ be able to find it on the BBC site, but I can't remember the date/time/show as mornings aren't my strong point. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The BBC site says that's it the worlds longest performance of a piece of music, which isn't actully true. Check out http://www.longplayer.org which lasts for 1000 years. It was part of last year's Belfast Festival, where rather funkily it was being played inside a couple of hundred year clock tower.
