Piehead Records Newsletter for February, 2003 Scroll down for info on OUR LATEST RELEASE ::: PREVIOUS RELEASES ::: UPCOMING RELEASES ::: T-SHIRTS ::: ORDERING/SUBSCRIPTIONS ::: :::::::::::::::: OUR LATEST RELEASE ::: The second release in our 2003 limited edition series is now available: PIE014 : Books On Tape : _Winning Record_ Books On Tape is Todd Matthew Drootin, a self-described beatpunk from Los Angeles, California. Unlike many electronica producers (bedroom or otherwise), Todd is unafraid to do things you're not supposed to do, like trying to recreate a guitar strumming effect in a sequencer, or laying his songs upon shockingly unorthodox rhythms. However, two important qualities can be found in equal measure in his entire oeuvre: energy and groove. Like all of the releases in our 2003 series, _Winning Record_ is an EP-length disc pressed on CD3", packaged with a unique Japanese paper insert and limited to 211 copies. It is available as part of a subscription to the full series, or as an individual item. ::: more info : http://www.pieheadrecords.com/releases/pie014.html :::::::::::::::: PREVIOUS RELEASES ::: The first disc in our 2003 series - _Navy Blue_ by Temper - has been receiving a resoundingly positive response in the month since it was released. Here are a few quotes: "The eight tracks that make up Navy Blue are remarkably melodic electro/nic ditties that are cute but not to the point of being cutesy... This series is strong right out of the gate and I'm not surprised one bit." [Mark Weddle - The Brainwashed Brain] "Slightly electro-y electronica in parts, with nods to Skanfrom, Printed Circuit et al but with gentle Morr Music prettiness abounding. Dead nice!" [Brian - Norman Records] "Aphex Twin inspired music, but one that is more sunny and quirky then the sometimes darker edges of Aphex or any of the Warp artists. Eight relatively short pieces, never too long or never too short... well crafted miniatures in electronica." [Frans de Waard - Vital Weekly] ::: more info : http://www.pieheadrecords.com/releases/pie013.html All of the releases in our 2002 series of limited edition full-length releases are also still available, although stocks on some of them are dwindling fast.
