and yes it's true, this will be heartworm's last week. the werm + i started
the first opiate event way back in summer of love 2000... some of you may
remember those crazy nights in the lower east side, old + new friends
chilling on the couches, byob style. spinning records through someone's
home stereo, with the freeform chillout dj mashup sets, lit by bodega
candles, playing a long aphex twin track so as to give us enough time to mix
a paper cup drink outta the orange juice carton and vodka bottle. we've
since grown up, learned how to spin, and moved the event to bigger spaces,
but the comfy atmosphere + love for the music set by werm in those early
days continues. next week heartworm leaves on a one way canadian + west
coast tour + relocation, eventual final destination san francisco. we'll
miss ya. op8 west, perhaps?
