hello, and happy new year. just a bit of stuff to tell you about: Let's kick off with some live news. Kinky Voodoo presents: Digitonal Live! Sunday 2nd February, 6pm - 12 the pool bar, curtain road, shoreditch, ec2 (nearest tube Old St.) Live sets from: Digitonal (toytronic) LJ Kruzer (uncharted audio) and DJs: John Power (kinky voodoo) TomM (global tomination) John Spyboy (blase) FREE! www.kinkyvoodoo.com * * * * * * * * * * * * Kinky Voodoo is proud to present an evening with Digitonal, who are currently enjoying widespread acclaim with their debut release on Toytronic records, 23 things fall apart. As a warm up to the bands gig at Dedbeat, Digitonal will be playing live for free at the Pool Bar in Shoreditch. Taking electronic music out of the bedroom and onto the stage, Digitonal's live set is about as far as you can get from the electronic stereotype of faceless blokes absent mindlessly pressing buttons, incorporating Drums and violins with synths and other electronics Digitonal are pushing the envelope of what is expected of an electronica band, and in the process producing some sublimely good music. In support will be new kid on the block LJ Kruzer, whose first release on Uncharted Audio, was has been compared to artists such as Plone and Schneider TM, and will be one of this year's most interesting artists. Filling in the gaps will be DJs John Power, John Spyboy, and Tomm, who will be spinning tracks from the more ambient, experimental and reflective end of the electro spectrum. Great Bands, beautiful music, and best of all it's free, what more could you ask for. *********************** it's also Andy's birthday weekend, so come down and help him celebrate. Dustpunk Sheffield's finest are back with another leg of their dustpunk gigs in association with tefosav. we've been asked along again and will be using it as a little pre-dedbeat warmup for the south yorkshire heads. there's full details at the very lovely website below and if you're in the area, we heartily recommend coming down and checking it. 65* are better than ever, feedle has to be seen to be believed and is a future and past collaborator with andy digitonal (under a secret name which we're never going to tell ;o) and first day back are fast gaining a reputation as one to watch. This will be large and noisy... Saturday February 22nd The Boardwalk, Snig-Hill Sheffield 65*daysofstatic First Day Back Feedle Digitonal full details at www.dustpunk.co.uk Dedbeat We've heard rumours that the dedbeat festival is pretty close to being sold out so if you're thinking of coming down to this indoor festie, i'd get your skates on. Featuring a toytronic showcase including live sets from Digitonal, Multiplex and CiM, the dedbeat weekender also boasts one of the finest hip-hop lineups you're likely to find in the UK this year, with live sets from Brand Nubian, Blackalicious, Majesticons, El-P, Aesop Rock, Edan, Boom-Bip with DoseOne and Earl Zinger, as well as the *complete active rosters* of both Rephlex and Planet-Mu records!!!! Not to mention supercollider, andrew weatherall and The Bays. Full details and tickets at www.dedbeat.net . Of course we don't even need to mention the appeal of running around like a kid at a cheezy old skool holiday camp with the additional hazards of adult intoxicants...anyone else up for the biggest game of knock-down ginger ever?? Scand Scand on the 31st of Jan features Point Seven, aka half of Abfarht Hinwil and the big cheese at toytronic playing live for the first time. The Kai-Zen crew always put on a good show so make the effort! Andy will also be spinning some records at Cafe 1001 on Brick Lane this sunday afternoon (26th jan) from about 4ish. come down and have a schmoke and a chat. full details of the scand night can be found at http://www.kai-zen.co.uk Seed Compilation A brand new Digitonal track will be appearing on a forthcoming compilation from Seed Records. It's called Snowflake Vectors and it's got loads of violin in it ;o). Keep an eye on www.seedrecords.co.uk for further information and release date. Selector Last night, Andy and Samy recorded a session for The Selector, the radio show for the British Council. You can find out more about how you can hear the show at http://music.britishcouncil.org/selector/. They played live versions of Come and Play and Seraphim and it sounded rather pretty. Playlist Not a lot of new stuff on account of being skint, but various Ninjatune forum mixes have been filling the void. Big up http://www.delta-9.net as always for them plus mad love to sixtyten for his blechmix2 which arrived in the post this morning. Also congrats to Ochre (www.ochremusic.com), a long time favourite of ours who is starting to get picked up. expect releases on Repeat and Toytronic soon and grab his freebies whilst you still can cause the force is strong in this one... oh, and Xela's 'for frosty mornings and summer nights' on neoouija drops on monday which is as essential a release as you're likely to find round these parts. tata for now.: home is here: http://www.digitonal.com xxx ***this mailing list is put out by digitonal...it's not for commercial use...we keep all personal details private...we're good like that...mail us at mailing@digitonal.com if you don't want to know***
