Your welcome.

I buy URB regularly because I trust it's content. It is not very probable that I would buy a magazine I have never read before if I had not browsed through it in the store. This is the same with music. I have no problem picking up the latest Blackalicious, or Squarepusher album among others. This is because they have a history of not disappointing me. Although Even with theses artist before I bought the first album from them I had heard them through some other source.

I don't mind surprises. I don't like bad surprises. I have had one to many bad surprises when buying music that I have not heard before. I would also hate to get it all before hand, I just like to have a good idea what I'm getting myself into. With many of the artist I listen to 30 sec doesn't provide even a bad idea. The one big exception to this is Turntablelab.com, there previews are excellent. One of the main reasons I am like this is because I don't have very much extra money, and the money I do have goes to buying music. If I spend money on a album I don't enjoy it might be the only one I able to buy for the whole month. If I had more money maybe I wouldn't mind throwing it away as much. I buy allot of Ramen noodles so I can buy new music :)

Of course, I am not trying to convince anyone to do anything they don't want to. I am just giving reasons that I download music. This is contrary to the popular "pirate" image portrayed by mainstream media. As if they have never exploited musicians. lol.

I own about 1500 titles spread over the same mediums. I love almost all of them. There are a few exceptions with musical styles that I have grown out of such as Punk, even though I still enjoy punk every once and awhile. There are also a few vinyl that I have bought at thrift stores fir 10-25 cents that I don't particularly enjoy, I feel this is a risk I can take though. On the other hand I have about 9000 mp3 spanning over about 3000 different albums. I only like about half of them, if that. If I would have had to buy all these albums to experience this music I would have had to buy 1500 albums I didn't particularly enjoy. Lets say the average cost of a album is about 9$. 9 times 1500 is 13500. Thirteen thousand dollars is allot of money to spend on music I don't like. Like I said above I'm not trying to convince you to do things my way. You are your own person you choose your own life. I am only offering a alternative view of things. zach _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM: Try the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
