its their own fault. they produce way too many cds in the first place, and charge way too much for crappy packaging and worthless art. they also introduced digital music to the masses in the form of a cd that can be readily copied, burned and converted without even recording it live, in a matter of minutes. maybe the next step is to take a step back. release music on vinyl. when all of the records are gone... (hopefully thy wont make millions of copies) post a digital file on the label's website. make it available to the masses. then most music lovers will be awaiting the next release. how bout releasing music with substance and not releasing things just to make a buck? the music industry gets what it deserves. greedy people. greedy greedy greedy people...... is it really a fair comparison when talking about sales per year. i mean say in 2000 there was really good music out.they sold alot of records. then in 2002 the records weren't as good. they sell less. does this accurately say whether or not the music industry is doing well? some of the idiots that run major labels need to get their nose out of the coke and start thinking about the success and talent of the artists they represent. the money is there on the consumer's side, people nowadays aren't as stupid as the record companies think. put something together that make customers want to buy it. make it a package deal. its not just about music anymore.....there's art/design/posters/collectables/ and the overall look and feel of the products. the whole piece should function as one thing. therefore.....if you only get the songs off the net you're missing the other half. it needs to be a well thought out piece. not a budget issue/ not a quantity issue/ not a radio play issue. it should be about the artists and what they want. they make the music. anyway....after looking at godspeed's latest..... it seems the music industry has its hands in many pies at once. did you know about sony making weapons with their profits? how bout aol/time-warner doing the same thing? sick. using music to make cash to fund weapons. they dont tell you that though.... its not fuckin rocket science. its all about supply and demand...basic economics.... i hope they all go under and people who actually make music because they love it are forced to represent themselves..at least it will be genuine. take care people. ryan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yep: repugnant. "The following articles document AOL's history with child pornography and pedophiles. " http://aolwatch.org/porndex.htm http://www.complaints.com/april2002/complaintoftheday.april25.4.htm "In what is either a massive blunder or some sort of practical joke, America Online has a link in its "Kids Only" section to a pornography site." http://www.2600.com/news/view/article/843

No. Their role is to represent the owners of the company, the shareholder, and maximize value for that owner. That is their _duty_. If the artists don't like the representation that they have then it is their duty to dismiss their label. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
