(Actually, a fair bit of work was done before that point, but that's the date our website went live and the label was "officially" launched.) In our first 12 months we have released 12 full-length albums (and actually sold some of them!); hosted several live Piehead showcases in Toronto and Montreal; and received coverage and kudos from such places as Shift Magazine, eye weekly and Brave New Waves on CBC Radio. In order to help mark the occasion, we're happy to be teaming up with our friends at Noise Factory Records for a dual-label showcase on Sunday, January 12th, 2003 as part of the popular Wavelength series at Sneaky Dee's (431 College St., Toronto). The night will feature live sets from Beef Terminal, naw & Tinkertoy, plus Piehead's very own DJ Greg Clow spinning sounds between the live sets. ::: more info : http://www.pieheadrecords.com/live.html : http://www.noisefactoryrecords.com/ : http://www.wavelengthtoronto.com/ :::::::::::::::: NEW RELEASE ::: To kick off our second year in fine style, the first release in our 2003 limited edition series is now available: PIE013 : Temper : _Navy Blue_ Temper is Michael Weak, a Toronto-born musician and producer who is currently based in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on the east coast of Canada. _Navy Blue_ is his first release, but it certainly doesn't sound like the work of a novice. If you enjoy the music of hellothisisalex, I Am Robot And Proud, Boards of Canada or the releases of labels like Morr Music and City Centre Offices, you owe it to yourself to own this disc of gorgeous and melodic electronics. Like all of the releases in our 2003 series, Navy Blue is am EP-length disc pressed on CD3", packaged with a unique Japanese paper insert and limited to 211 copies. The shirts are 100% cotton Fruit of the Loom, and are white with black printing. Subscribers to the 2002 series will receive all of the releases including the December, 2002 compilation in a single package.
