I'm sure there are many out there, but one in particular that comes to mind are "Golden Shower" out of Brazil. http://goldenshower.gs/ You can read about them in English here: http://www.shift.com/print/web/40/1.html Check out the video and tune that put them on the map winning them an MTV Brazil video award. The tune and the video are based entirely on Atari 2600 Video Game Graphics. http://www.goldenshower.gs/e/vejaoclipe.html -matT nashville.tn On Tuesday, January 7, 2003, at 08:04 AM, enrico wrote:

It may be a little oldschool, but check out the 8-bit Construction Set 12" from Beige records http://www.beigerecords.com/products/beg-004.html It contains an Atari side and a C64 side. Each side has a track made from samples from each platform, as well as some great locked grooves from game soundtracks. Also Alec Empire did an album using Game Boy samples. Can't remember the name of it right now..... Hope this helps, Glenn I'm sure there are many out there, but one in particular that comes to mind are "Golden Shower" out of Brazil.

Hexstatic did a video game trilogy of sorts ("Vector," "Bass Invader" and "Machine Toy"), which tracks appear on both the Vector EP and on the Rewind full-length. Both are on NTone/Ninja Tune and are, in my opinion, two of the most underrated Ninja-related releases ever. Note that this is not music for videogames, nor does it use music from videogames; rather, it's music made (largely) from videogame noises and bleeps and bloops and such, many of which are from immediately recognizable old-school gems like Asteroids, Battlezone, etc. And it's not just videogames, either: the overused Speak & Spell makes an appearance, as does puzzle king Simon. Worth checking out. The accompanying videos (Hex did videos for all the tracks on Rewind) are great, too.
