So, I was wondering if y'all could help me out with some suggestions. I've been really into Autechre, BoC, all of AFX's stuff, for a while, and some Amon Tobin to boot, lately. I just purchased some Benbecula stuff like the Christ "Pylonesque" EP and their label sampler, hoping its some good stuff. And inkblot, too. Anything else in that similar vein anyone can recommend? Obviously, though, not just copycats of, say, BoC's downtempo-dreamy-synth sound, but not shit I see on various clicks 'n blips type comps where I work (Borders Books).
I've also, too, been inspired to make some music. I've been familiar with Steinberg's ReBirth for a couple years, but never really felt it enough to get too involved. I just (totally legally, of course) got ahold of copies of Cubase SX, Reaktor, and Absynth, and am on my way towards purchasing my first MIDI keyboard controller. I was wondering the various computer production environments and techniques, or any instructional-type websites, that any of you guys have used. I've got a PC with enough power to run any applications, but I just feel swamped in terms of different applications and finding ones that can produce my sound. And I want some ideas about where to start. =)
Thanks for any insight.
