checked the Morr tour last night with sytrofoam, opiate, lali puna. good show. nice performances by mssrs styrofoam and opiate, though only as visually stimulating as a LCD lit face in front of an I-Book can be. good sound and good music though. lots of track playout and deconstruction. styrofoam's voice actually came accross pretty well on the vocal tracks. lali puna were good. four piece with live drums and bass. valerie's vox was even breathier and whisperier than on record, sounded like she was really pushing it or had a sore throat. but nice music though. no nin-com-poop though. ;-< worth checking if they hit your town. respect, Jeff Davis fon: 216.266.6969 phlow@earthlink.net fax: 216.266.2360 cel: 216.533.6303

I caught this tour a couple of nights ago in Toronto as well.

I was a little underwhelmed with Opiate's set, although I think that had more to do with the venue they were playing in, Lee's Palace, which is very much a traditional rock club. I really prefer experimental laptop sets in more intimate, loungey environments. Styrofoam, however, was fantastic (even despite the heckler that caused him to stop for a few minutes during his first track). A perfect mixture of indie-ish vocals and melodic electronica.

Did they not do an encore at your show? We got a three song encore here, including Nin-Com-Pop, and an "all star" number where Styrofoam and Opiate joined them on stage for full-on version of a new Styrofoam song that gave me shivers like I haven't felt at a live show since the first time I saw Sigur Ros. Absolutely stunning. I thought there might be The Soft Pink Truth fans out that would be interested in the new video http://www.texasmonkey.com/softpinktruth/ ______________________________________________________ The Soft Pink Truth - "Do You Party?" LP [Soundslike] Drew's (1/2 of Matmos) house/electrofunk side project The Soft Pink Truth has a new 12" release entitled "PromoFunk" available in November on Matthew Herbert's Soundslike imprint. The 4 track EP boasts a truly devout cover of the Vanity 6 song "Make Up", for which the lovely and talented Miss Blevin Blectum was kind enough to contribute her vocal stylings. It's just a taster, a soupcon if you will, for his full length debut album, entitled "Do You Party?", which comes out on Soundslike in January. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
