http://www.klangstabil.com/hymen the hymen records page is updated: new screenbackground images sound-samples of ¥725 new release on hymen records: END. SCIENCE/FICTION. CD. HYMEN ¥725 the term “science-fiction” often dredges up from memory two things: b-movies, and bizarre, unsettling music. music that’s supposed to capture the feel of the otherworldly, the alien, the unexplored and therefore un-mastered realm of our imaginative experience. sonic themes and melodies so evocative they craft visions in your mind’s eye. that’s pretty much what you get on end’s debut album for hymen records, science/fiction. throughout end’s science/fiction is a strong sense of theme and melody that’s as resonant as any modern electronic album you’ll find today. science/fiction revels in expansive percussion patterns and lavish chord structures that swoon with tension, where sonic ideas posited in unrelenting break sequences escalate into apocalyptic zeniths—then implode to silence. an arresting epic unfolds inside your ears. end’s charles peirce, who has appeared previously on planet-μ, builds the dark post-industrial themes of science/fiction without the aid of tr! aditional synths and drum machines, relying exclusively on samplers and computer equipment. 12 tracks, future electronic devastation, essential listening. killer. VENETIAN SNARES. A GIANT ALIEN FORCE MORE VIOLENT & SICK THAN ANYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE. 3"CD BOXSET. HYMEN ¥405 canadian aaron funk's music polarizes listeners: you either love it or hate it there is nothing in between. the number of releases he has put out is as weird as his sound treatments. up-tempo breakbeats, destructed drum and bass patterns/loops merge to sonicly attack the mind. this is far beyond 'noise' cliches. after the brilliant and surprisingly successful 'doll doll doll', hymen records presents “a v.s.” a 3” cd that contains one single track (that is as long as the title). a contrast of rhythmic high-speed rage and spacey moods. some people would extract an entire album from this psychedelic breakcore concentrate. funk intended 'a giant alien force...' as a soundtrack -- so we decided to include a picture viewer (little television) along with the cd. listen carefully while watching the pictures on the screen, as this is beyond anything you can imagine ! available 30.oct2002. So, I have to say that End is a friend if mine, but I also feel like I have to tell the world how amazing I think this album is! It's got this really great combination between processing and rhythum that definately sets it apart from most other recient stuff. Maybe like a great MEGO record then this fucking wicked beat comes in. It's amazing really, you should all most def. try to check it out... Just my 2 cents Donna Summer _________________________________________________________________ Choose an Internet access plan right for you -- try MSN! http://resourcecenter.msn.com/access/plans/default.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

indeed a very nice release - smooth and dark with crisp percussion textures, not to mention how nicely melodic it is. at the same time i should mention that it feels contrived in certain places - starting from the song titles (oh so very deliberate), and continuing with a few parts that tend to sound a bit dry (perhaps a drawback of excessive conceptualism?). still, a very nice item, appropriately dark and technoid and melodic at the same time - quite a refreshing release and definitely very fitting for hymen. -- anton seven.editor http://www.nezzwerk.com/seven icq://2623520 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
