You may not be aware but this is the last week for a lot of specialist radio shows on http://www.bbc.co.uk/london Tonite is the last night for Coldcu't Solid Steel and we heard Ross Allen's show has been axed as well. Not sure about the other specialist shows. I realise I might seem to have a vested interest in this, but the reason I work for Ninja Tune is cause of the music full stop. To lose this avenue of musical diversity on the airwaves is sad, so I've sent the following email to yourlondon@bbc.co.uk today and in a most unusual move, encourage anyone else to do so that agrees with my sentiment. Dear BBC London I noticed on the http://www.ninjatune.net front page that tonite is the last show that Solid Steel is going to be in BBC London and I've heard that some of the other specialist shows are being terminated as well. I wonder what ever posessed BBC London to come to such a conclusion? No where on London Radio can you hear the diverse music presented by Coldcut, Ross Allen, Norman Jay and Bob Jones. No where within any of the BBC's programming on radio can you hear the kind of incredible mix shows that the Solid Steel team puts together every week. In order to find comparable programming, I will have to resort to cheesy jazz fm after 10pm and finding the specialist shows on xfm, which don't come close to the quality that this programming represents. Surely there must be a place for Solid Steel on BBC radio?
