INFO:
SUCTION RECORDS is proud to present VENDETTA, a new 5-track EP from GD
LUXXE, aka GERHARD POTUZNIK from Vienna, Austria. Mr.Potuznik is a music
machine, and our fingers are not strong enough to type out his entire
discography, but let's mention a few highlights: co-owner of the Angelikka
Koehlermann label, producer for Chicks On Speed, and releases under a slew
of different monikers for labels including Disko B, Cheap, Mego, and
Sabotage. GD LUXXE is Gerhard's flagship solo project, and you may recognise
GD LUXXE for his releases on Interdimentional Transmissions, Breakin', and
Ersatz Audio.
VENDETTA is vocal electro-pop music that would NOT sound at home on the
International DJ Gigolos label. This is not techno music dressed in black
leather and florescent pink gloves, no. VENDETTA's five songs are electronic
pop music of the timeless variety. Two of the songs, GARDEN, and REASONS
(the latter being SUCTION's pick for "potential Top-10 single"!) were
initially written and recorded by Gerhard in the late-1980s, now reanimated
and brought back to life in 2002 for SUCTION. From the flower-adorned cover
artwork, to the sequencer-fueled melancholy of the music, it should come as
no surprise that Gerhard counts New Order's "Power, Corruption and Lies" LP
as an all-time favorite. With VENDETTA, GD LUXXE takes the sound of
classic-era New Order as a starting point, and makes his own statement for
2002. Honest, memorable, and sincere, VENDETTA is a perfect slice of
electronic pop music for the home and for the dancefloor.

SECTION-003: SUCTION/LOWFISH-related press
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
-->Lowfish "Maintain the Tension" (Suction Records suction014)
JOCKEY SLUT (U.K.):
"Gregory de Rocher is the fella behind Lowfish and he's happy making
melodic, tripped-up electro that dares journalists to find ways of
describing it. Head straight for 'the Superuser' and have a go at
categorizing the intricate hi-hats, daring structures and subtle beats
yourself. Calling music 'listenable' always seems stupid, but that's exactly
what this is."
SHOUT (N.Y.):
"Filtering acts like Yaz, Erasure and Soft Cell through his lo-fi gearhead
gauntlet, '80s electro-pop obsessed Gregory De Rocher creates a crystallized
complex of sub-sonic bass booms and high-energy dance-floor dynamics."
[9 ohms of impedance out of 10]
-->Lowfish "The Accident Causer" (Ersatz Audio EZ-019)
MUZIK (U.K.):
"Toronto's Gregory De Rocher, as well as running Suction Records, also makes
melodic electronica and hip-swinging electro as Lowfish, as is amply
demonstrated by this release on Adult.'s label. With a nu-wave slant that
fits snugly into Ersatz Audio's vision, Lowfish moulds four cuts of
beautiful basslines, delicate vocoder and ironed out two-step into an
incredibly inventive, head-turning, accident-causing spine shaker. Break out
the bandages!"

SECTION-004: SUCTION RECORDS PRESENTS live event in Toronto
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
SATURDAY OCT.19/2002:
ECTOMORPH live!
SOLVENT VS LOWFISH live!
+ DJs WILL MUNROE and GREG CLOW
Toronto, Canada @ The Rivoli, 334 Queen Street West
doors 9pm, 19+, $10 in advance / $12 at the door
Suction Records, Canada's premiere source of robot music, presents a night
of quality electro, on Saturday, October 19, at the Rivoli. Forget the
"clash", this event is pure electro-class: featuring live sets by Ectomorph
& Solvent vs Lowfish, + DJ entertainment by Will Munroe & Greg Clow.
Detroit's Ectomorph has been releasing stark, organic electronic funk since
1995. Main conduit Brendan M Gillen also runs the seminal Interdimensional
Transmissions label. After a series of classic 12" eps and high-profile
remixes (Fischerspooner, Tuxedomoon, A Number of Names), Ectomorph is set to
release their debut full-length, 'Sleazy Listenning', immenently. Simon
Reynolds coined the terms 'abstract booty' and 'intelligent bass' to
describe Ectomorph's live set. This performance marks Ectomorph's live debut
in Canada.
Toronto's Solvent vs Lowfish have been releasing their unique brand of
purist synthesizer pop since 1997, via their own Suction Records label.
Besides their work on Suction, Solvent and Lowfish have built up an
impressive resume of releases for a diverse selection of international
labels: most notably, Solvent's 2001 album 'Solvent City' for Germany's
esteemed Morr Music label, and Lowfish's 2002 12" 'The Accident Causer'for
Adult.'s Ersatz Audio label. Two distinct artists they may be, but Solvent
and Lowfish prefer to play together as 'Solvent vs Lowfish'. This is a rare
performance by Solvent vs Lowfish, their first live set in Toronto since
1999.
DJ entertainment will be provided by local favorites Will Munroe (Peroxide,
Vazaleen), and Greg Clow (Stained Productions, Feedback Monitor, Piehead
Records), spinning electro, new wave, ebm, disco nouveau and robot pop.
