Did anyone catch it? I only found out the very same day, so couldn't make it. :/ A rave review (off-list) would be nice to widen the wound. (I thought of naming this post "The truth about kid606 shows...", but a lot of people prolly have their mailboxes filter out anything with "The truth about" in the Subject: header by now.) There wasn't much action at this show: no visuals, just The Kid with two mac laptops, but the music was enough to drive the crowd mad. He started with some breakcore / hardcore mixed with cheesy pitched up samples and massive chaotic granular trickery. It would sound like all that mid 90-s happy hardcore crap (he sampled a-ha and buggles :) if it wasn't for all that complicated chaotic beats and constant changes in music. He played his cover of Missy Elliot's "get ur freak on" and after that the sound became more synhtpop/disco oriented (moroderish basslines ets), but all that granular madness was still there. The final track was a very beautiful and calm (no noise or hardcore! :) cover version of new order's "temptation". -- Best regards, Nick mailto:ambi@mu.ru --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
