I've been to his gig here in Moscow a couple of days ago and it was
great! There wasn't much action at this show: no visuals, just The Kid with
two mac laptops, but the music was enough to drive the crowd mad. He
started with some breakcore / hardcore mixed with cheesy pitched
up samples and massive chaotic granular trickery. It would sound like
all that mid 90-s happy hardcore crap (he sampled a-ha and buggles :)
if it wasn't for all that complicated chaotic beats and constant
changes in music. He played his cover of Missy Elliot's "get ur
freak on" and after that the sound became more synhtpop/disco
oriented (moroderish basslines ets), but all that granular madness
was still there. The final track was a very beautiful and calm (no
noise or hardcore! :) cover version of new order's "temptation".
