I will be venturing to the Bay Area next weekend and I am trying to get a line on the places to go and experience electronic music (clubs, coffee shops, etc). I have been to the Bay Area several times in the past, but sadly I am yet to see a decent electronic music show during my stay. Are there specific venues that cater to IDM? Any weeklies? Considering the talent that comes out of the Bay Area in this dept I would be surprised if there wasn't. Any info would be greatly appreciated. **Oh, if there are any promoters on the list I will be bringing my lap top in the hopes of performing during my stay. I have MP3s on the web that I could direct you to if you're interested in hosting some wicked Seattle based IDM. ^(|_|)^ _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Having just ventured out there myself, I have a few recommendations: - Stephen/Zygote of Under the Radar is a regular poster to this list and does, I believe, fairly regular events, most (all?) of which seem to happen at 26 Mix (26th & Mission). We played there with him at an Emanate / Under the Radar event and were well impressed with the venue and the fine folks who set up the show. Check http://www.undertheradar.net/ to see what he's got brewing. 26 Mix has a site, too, at http://www.26mix.com/. - We also played a last-minute show at a weekly called Minimal Mondays that happens at a place called Hush Hush (14th & Guerrero) and while it wasn't a huge draw, it had a pretty solid built-in crowd for a Monday night and I can't say enough nice things about organizer Forest Green and the other people there. Even though we set up the show only a few days in advance, we saw flyers around town at record shops, etc. with our names, so much props on the promotion. - Also happened upon a nice, chill minimal house set a few blocks from Hush Hush at a place called Dalva (16th & Albion). Exactly what I needed on a Sunday night. I'm sure locals (including Stephen) might have some other, better recommendations; we were only there a short time, couldn't see everything, your mileage may vary, etc. Have fun. yes, i recommend 26mix as well. although i don't specifically know what the act for this coming monday night is like (my night is the 2nd monday of the month), the flyer for monday nights is here: http://piesarenice.net/images/flyer.jpg i've played at hush hush too, and i like that little place a lot. obmusic: lately i've been really enjoying bola's fyuti...but does anyone have any idea what the cover art is supposed to be, if anything? i spent a good 10 minutes just staring at the organic-seeming cross-sections of...*something*.. also the new dj shadow rocks my pants, and lately i have been listening to wagon christ's musipal all the time...oh and cloinc's 'lonely bits' is making me happy too, especially the first track, the one that has the little 'bung bung buk' baby robot samples....yum! oh, and i cannot ever play 'eple' by royksopp or the remix of 'dundas, ontario' by manitoba enough. -rachel (aka dj pie) piesarenice.net -- <iNoah> sed -ne '/^$/!{H;x;s/\n//p;s/.*//;h;d;};/^$/{x;s/.*//;H;}' ${1+"$@"} On Fri, 23 Aug 2002, John Goelzer wrote:
