Hello Everyone, Just thought I would email to let you all know about a new independent bi-monthly magazine music mag that launches today in Australia. Funded by a grant from the Australia Council's Audience & Market Development division, Cyclic Defrost profiles independent electronic producers, labels as well as sleeve designers and graphic designers working with sound focussing largely on Australia. You NEED a copy of this, and after you've read it - all 30,000 odd words of it, go to the website and listen to audio by the artists!. Cyclic Defrost is a bi-monthly independent publication printed in Sydney and distributed nationwide across Australia. It is available for free from good independent record stores and other places of note in the major capital cities. Some copies make their way to Tokyo, Osaka, San Francisco, London, and Auckland. If you can't get a free copy of it in your area you can get to www.cyclicdefrost.com and check out the online version of the mag! Issue 1 contains - - interviews with Quark Kent, Betaville Orchestra, Monotonik, Surgery Records, Couchblip, Aural Industries, Lucas Abela & Dual Plover, Ponyloaf, Pivot, Tom Phillipson & Dumphuck Records - articles on Bloody Fist Records, Akufen & the Montreal glitch-techno community, broken beat in London/Tokyo/Berlin, a sleeve design primer, 8-bit electro, and a profile on 6 years of Frigid - plus new music reviews, sleeve design reviews, artist demo reviews, 80s pop culture flashbacks and the judgement jukebox - 36 pages with colour cover done by guest designer Tom Phillipson. - plus a extended remix web-version (www.cyclicdefrost.com) programmed and designed by Qbique with downloadable tracks by some of the featured acts/labels, additional reviews, stories and extra bonus length articles. Note that Cyclic Defrost is looking for writers and contributors for future issues. Advertising is also cheap (especially since the australia dollar is so low) so its the perfect way to get your label's music known about nationally in australia! Hope you all enjoy, alot of effort and love has gone into the first issue by people who love music.
