I wish I was in Japan early 90's, tons of awesome live stuff, plenty of friendly intermingling of bands, lots of one offs and Boredoms stuff... sigh.... nick --------------------------------- Raoul's Left Ear http://www.geocities.com/raoulsleftear/Intro.html ---------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

One of the highlight shows I've seen was Blackalicious, Latyrx and DJ Shadow (as U.N.K.L.E. but by himself) at the Metro in chicago a few years ago. Blackalicious and Latyrx blew me away. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I saw the Breeders in MN recently and they were amazing. Kim and Kelly have presense and know how to interact with the crowd. Lowlight: everyone in the crowd screaming for the Pixies' "Gigantic", she says "You got the wrong band, duke!" and proceeds to play as much of it as she can remember. Through the rest of the show people continue to scream "Gigantic" because none of them even recognized the song they were requesting. But they put on a fun show, despite. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i saw him in 96... one of the wickedest live experiences ever! he had a female guest on theremin and a dancer/singer with him... at one point he nearly stopped the concert, because the sound technician wanted to turn the volume down... also greeeat was pan sonic! i was standing about 6 meters from the subwoofer and it still shook my knees and turned my belly... those two (and motorhead) were the reason why i always cranck the volume to full, when i perform live...:) h. ~~~~~~~pudotion...it's like pudding and lotion~~~~~~~ hidari@gmx.net http://listen.to/hidari (now features direct mp3 downloads) http://pw-site.tripod.com/ http://www.stiege44.com/ (now features direct mp3 downloads) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I've gotta second that. I saw a Quannum showcase at Bimbo's in SF about a year and a half ago and it was hands-down one of the all time best shows I've ever seen. Blackalicious had a couple of horns on stage and I think a backup singer or 2 and tore the roof off, they were very tight and super fun, and DJ Shadow was on the decks too ... great great show. dave ugly and mean wrote:

best is really hard to say, but mu-ziq at coachella in (uh) '99 really rocked it. i've never seen a tent full of hot, sweaty kids go off as psycho as they did during his set. if reaching your audience is a good meter of show success, this is probably the one for me. without any actual violence, the energy level in there was like a mosh pit at one of the little punk shows i used to go to in the early '90s. and mike just stood there grinning shyly and tweeking his knobs... j --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Best Shows for me... Smashing Pumpkins circa 91-92? - right after "Gish" came out and I was in Chicago for a long weekend. I had never heard of them before then and they amazed me. Parliament Funkadelic - 2000 @ 9:30 Club in D.C. - it was like a Wednesday night and the place emptied out fairly early, but P-Funk played for like another hour to the remaining 200-300 people in attendance. We were in the balcony and I look back and Bootsy Collins is standing 5 feet behind us watching the show before going back down to the stage to play again once he got noticed. At one point I counted 17 people on-stage who were all involved. I met George Clinton's big sweaty ass that night and got a picture. He was every bit as cool as you would have thought him to be. Definitely a highlight. I have to say, most of the great performances I have seen have not had anything to do with electronic-based music. JS
