I just listened to the latest solid steel with Chris Read and I am hooked. Who is he? Amazing mixing! That could not have been done with 3 turntable and a mixer -- NO WAY! Does anybody know what kind of software was used for that? Can anybody recommend any software I can use to make my very own JDJ using my Dell laptop? Any and all leads would be greatly appreciated. On a similar vein, after listening to the mix I realized how much I really like the Sabres of Paradise remix of Red Snapper's "Hot Flush". What a beautiful track. Does anybody have a catalog # for that 12"? Is it still available? I'll even take and mp3 rip of it but WinMx is ass and I don't know any other worthwhile peer to peer file sharing networks or software. Can anybody help me out with that too. NP: Spacetime Continuum -- "Flourescence EP" Pedro Cevallos -- "...beginning in the fourteenth century, the clock made us into time-keepers, and then time-savers, and now time-servers. In the process, we have learned irreverence toward the sun and the seasons, for in a world made up of seconds and minutes, the authority of nature is superseded." -- Neil Postman -- http://www.geocities.com/mr_cevallos/ _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

No, I'd never heard of him either, but Nethead (on list this) sent out some info about him last week: "Solid Steel this Monday the 29nd guest mix is by Chris Read of Substance Collective and is sooooo good we are extending it to an hour. He continues to work towards the success of Substance, which now comprises of a monthly night attracting crowds of up to 1000 people, a label project for Different Drummer and a live band." Also check out Pitman doing Roots Manuva on part 2 of the show. Not a good as the previous Pitman tracks but funny never the less :-) glenn Pedro Cevallos wrote:

Yeah, this was a great mix. Definitely laid down on a computer though, too many edits and not a single dropped beat as far as I could tell. You could probably do a mix onto a standard sequencer like Cubase or Logic if you got the latency down enough. There is a program designed specifically for computer mixes, works kind of like a software 8-track - it's name escapes me though. As for Hot Flush, it was first released on the Hot Flush EP on Flaw records, but that's very rare now - you'd probably have more luck picking up the 'reeled and skinned' compilation on Warp - it's still available through Warpmart Cheers, Dan.
