the four-disc album you refer to is Zaireeka...
you're supposed to set up four stereo sound systems in one space (works best
if some are in different rooms... or all in a circle)... so, there are 8
speakers. you have to start the albums at the same time and a voice goes
"testing... " then each cd calls off it's number in succession to make sure
they are all approximately in order...
i own this, but have only listened to it twice (understandably a little
tough to get together)... i have fond memories of college and taking acid
and running my neighborhood borrowing boomboxs off people...
this experiment, when it works, is shockingly phenomenal. flaming lips are
true visionaries, and should be honored by all circles for their devotion to
"the mission."
and... i love the new album, but am afraid that Soft Bulletin is definitely
it's superior as this new one treads the same ground, and not as well, imo,
but still... it's magic.
is anyone familiar with their back-back catalog? i've never heard anything
before Future Head... any recommendations?
