Imagine there was a label that wasn't driven by greed or to
exploit artists but rather formed for the sole purpose of
making people aware. Now imagine there were hip hop artists
that used their voice to confront human issues, whether
social and political, rather than solely speak about
themselves, pimpin' hoes and bankrolls. Now imagine all
this was based locally here in Miami.
Botanica del Jibaro:
Associated with Beta Bodega, the covert abstract electronic
label from Miami, Botanica del Jibaro is a label with one
clear agenda: to utilize our "Freedom of Speech" (while we
still have it) to convey conscious message via hip hop.
Where labels never take the responsibility for taking a
stance except for when it comes to making money or pushing
what they think sells, Botanica del Jibaro sets out to
expose the truth whether it be hypocrisy in relationships,
organized religion or politics. Simply providing a home and
vehicle for intelligent street dialogue to project to the
rest of the world.

Algorithm:
Returning to their hometown Miami after invading stages in
Germany, Japan and Puerto Rico, to celebrate their 4th 12"
release this year. Algorithm is a the highly potent mix of
3 highly talented artists; Dr.Faustus, Plex and Seth P.
Brundel. Clear yet sometimes rapid fire lyrics that attack
everything from unsupportive family members and abusive
priests to U.S. foreign policy.

El Grito 12":
Written last year to address the presence of US Navy Bases
and the bombing that is conducted on the small Island of
Vieques, which is part of Puerto Rico. Besides the stray
missile that killed a civilian and the destruction of
fisherman's livelihood, the bombing is also suspected of
causing various adverse health problems. The people have
democraticly voted and the mayor has written a formal letter
for Base to shut down without success. El Grito has become
third world anthem for all people that struggle for true
freedom. Bilingual hip hop at it's best.

Evolvers & Serum:
Two of the newest local Miami artists to join Botanica del
Jibaro. Debut 12"'s will be released in September. Evolvers
at the core is Equate and Uday with many guests joining from
MC's to bass guitarists. Their forthcoming project is
entitled "State of the Union"(www.evolvermusic.com). Serum
is an MC that many might already know from following the
"Battle MC" scene here in Miami, if you follow then you know
that there are very few that want to challenge Mr. Serum. In
contrast to that, his analytical and high power release
entitled "Melting in the Pot" shows that there is more to
Serum than just devastating punch-lines and disses.

Serum's site coming soon!
Yesh (Yeshua dapoED):
If you missed him at Infiltrate 4.0, once again your chance
to peep one of Brookyln's finest. Known for his work with
his partner Siah in the mid 90's on Bobbito's legendary
label Fondlem'. Yesh now forging ahead with his own label
called Head Bop and feels right at home in Miami as he is of
Colombian decent.

Lord SP:
Filling the usual spot of Manuvers, Lord SP has been
summoned out of retirement. A co-founder of Rice and Beans
with La Mano Fria, when it as only a clothing line and it
was being sold to Bobbito's Footwerks ack in the mid 90's.
His style is simple, striclty hip hop sure shots and
classics.
