Piehead Records Newsletter for July, 2002 Scroll down for info on NEW RELEASE ::: PREVIOUS RELEASES ::: LIVE EVENTS ::: ORDERING/SUBSCRIPTIONS ::: :::::::::::::::: NEW RELEASE ::: The latest album in the Piehead Records 2002 limited edition series was released on July 11th and is now available for purchase (ordering details below): PIE006 : Multiplex : _Iroquois_ Multiplex is brothers Christian and Roland. Originally from suburban London, they moved to a small English coastal fishing town in Sussex and made music initially to offset the boredom. While some inspiration is drawn from the London club scene, the duo prefer a darker, more atmospheric or filmic approach to sound. They now have an ocean separating them (Christian lives in Canada near Toronto, while Roland remains in England), but continue to create music together through a collection of various eclectic musical toys such as soft analog and digital synthesizers. _Iroquois_ is a collection of tracks made during 2001 into early 2002 and includes original tracks alongside remixes from fellow electronic artists ISDS, Spark, Ob, Guy James and The Blameshifter. ::: more info : http://www.pieheadrecords.com/releases/pie006.html ::: Multiplex website : http://www.multiplexmusic.com/ :::::::::::::::: PREVIOUS RELEASES ::: PIE005 : Your Favourite Horse : _I Would Close My Eyes But All I See Is The Massacre_ "Accelera Deck is no more, hurray for Your Favourite Horse... strumming guitars and singing songs... sounds of vinyl skipping and laptoppy sound processing... a mixture that seems impossible, but much to my surprise it works well... the acoustic guitar album Fennesz has not made yet..." [Frans de Waard - Vital Weekly] ::: more info : http://www.pieheadrecords.com/releases/pie005.html ::: Your Favourite Horse website : http://www.scarcelight.com PIE004 : I8U : _grasshopper morphine_ "...an intense and engaging new release by this Montreal sound artist... plenty of contemplative moments, where the sound fills your space with an incredible depth and presence, and there are plenty of dissonant moments as well, to keep your ears on edge." [Vils M DiSanto - Incursion Music Review] ::: more info : http://www.pieheadrecords.com/releases/pie004.html ::: I8U website : http://www.I8U.com PIE003 : David Kristian : _My Three Suns_ "I think the finest output (from Piehead) so far is definitely by David Kristian, he is always sure to add that extra punch in his tunes, always treading into the more chaotic forms of experimentation, and it simply 'works'." [Pietro Da Sacco - Igloo Magazine] ::: more info : http://www.pieheadrecords.com/releases/pie003.html ::: David Kristian website : http://www.davidkristian.com PIE002 : hellothisisalex : _the canadian spelling program_ "Sweet, light-hearted Casio tones are coupled with the dated, yet warm and lush sound of Moog synthesisers... a quirky musical foray into warped synth-pop via keyboards and other musical machines." [I. Khider - Exclaim] ::: more info : http://www.pieheadrecords.com/releases/pie002.html ::: hellothisisalex website : http://www.hellothisisalex.com PIE001 : ARC/Aidan Baker : _Repercussion_ "...mixing and alternating ambient and rhythmic elements with perfect grace. Lovely, absolutely lovely. The best thing you haven't heard so far this year." [Mark Weddle - The Brainwashed Brain] ::: more info : http://www.pieheadrecords.com/releases/pie001.html ::: ARC website : http://fade.to/arc ::: Aidan Baker website : http://www3.sympatico.ca/mokka :::::::::::::::: LIVE EVENTS ::: There's a flurry of live events happening in the coming months featuring several Piehead artists.
