Oh jesus christ not this fucking thread again. Basically I think anybody who wants to make decisions about peoples' open-mindedness based on what "AE" album they prefer is either compensating for their own "AVANT GARDE COOLNESS DEFICIENCY" or else trolling for hate mail. C'mon ... Amber's a fucking great album and maybe I don't LIKE the sounds of metal scraping on metal or decimated breakbeats as much as I like the "classic warp" sound? Is that narrow-minded? There's no rule that says you have to follow an artist down a path. I mean look at John Coltrane and Miles Davis. Coltrane went down the ASTRAL PROJECTION THROUGH EXTREME NOIZE road, wheras Miles Davis decided he wanted to pretend he was some sort of Funky Half-Assed Jam Band. Am I FAILING in some regard because I prefer 'A Love Supreme' to 'Ascention' and 'Kind of Blue' over 'Bitches Brew'? Sorry for the rant. Let's get back to talking about how cool "IDM" is.. . I think BOARDS OF CANADA sound like YANNI. Squarepusher's best album was HARD NORMAL DADDY because i really fucking love the WEATHER REPORT. Discuss amongst yourselves. asterblaster

On the Davis example, don't most people agree that Kind of Blues may be the best single jazz album in general, even the super jazz-o-philes, and not Bitches Brew so often? just curious, as I really don't know, I think Bitches Brew is technically fantastic, and interesting, but "Kind of Blue" is a desserted island record for sure.
