It's always good to see (older) list members moving up through the wave of music being released. -- 19 July 2002 --for immediate release-- Andrew Duke's album debuts at #1 on Canada's largest campus/community radio station Response to Sprung, the latest album from Halifax-based artist Andrew Duke, has been overwhelmingly positive. Released summer 2002 on Marseille France's Bip-Hop (bip-hop.com), radio and press in Canada and around the world are showing plenty of enthusiasm and support. Since the album's release, Duke has been invited to appear on 8 compilations (from labels as far away as Norway, Macedonia, and Japan). Remixes, collaborations, and albums for 2003 are already under discussion. Duke's last album, Physical and Mental Health (Folding Cassettes/( )Dial Records, San Francisco), reached #5 on the Electronic/RPM chart in !earshot (Canada's national radio chart listing), and Sprung looks set to surpass this. Congrats to Andrew on his album debut but I must refute the hype in this press release. Canadian college radio stations are not rated like commercial media - they have no numbers for how many listeners they have. And there is no way CIUT has 8 million listeners when the whole population of the metropolitan Toronto area is 6 million. Greg Clow isn't that famous yet. Bip-hop the hype must stop! ;> CT
