As well as the "Chiff-Chaffs & Willow Warblers" CD, Minotaur Shock has 3 EPs out on Melodic. Not sure how well-available they are now, but they're great too! If you like Four Tet, there's plenty of comparisons to make... It's about the tone I suppose. Very much idm-inspired beats (think a bit of Aphex, bit of Luke Vibert, etc), and sound sources from acoustic guitar, organic-sounding keys, found-sound etc. I second Lance's recommendation of Melodic's "a room full of tuneful" comp too, and I don't really know the other artists. Lucky Pierre has some association with Arab Strap. Empire State did a remix on the third Minotaur Shock EP (also featuring an Isan remix and two others). Chessie is quite well-known from Drop Beat days and has a recent album on Plug Research. Lance as usual is the man with the facts ;) Cheers, P -- Peter Hollo raven@fourplay.com.au http://www.fourplay.com.au/blog/ FourPlay - Eclectic Electric String Quartet http://www.fourplay.com.au/ Raven: experimental electronica http://www.fourplay.com.au/raven.html "Of course, dance music can be a music where you lie on your back and your brain cells dance" - Michael Karoli of Can, quoted in Wire mag. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
