Do you like the Gorillaz?  What about dub?  Well if you like them both, then the new Gorillaz CD “Gorillaz: Spacemonkeyz versus Gorillaz—Laika Come Home” could be your cup of tea in a big way.  I really enjoyed the Gorillaz first CD but was constantly bummed that they only fooled with dub influences and kept everything nice and MTV-pop friendly.  Well this CD is full of righteous towering dubs of their tracks.  Emphasis on dub as several of the tracks are only slightly recognizable to the originals which makes this release stand on its own really well.  It is deep and brooding but strangely summery and so far, I’m loving it (in case you haven’t noticed).  In the US, it comes out on Astralwerks this coming Tuesday. Now, for my question…does anyone have any info on the Spacemonkeyz? These guys have the deep dub technique down pat and I’d like to hear more of their stuff. Thanks! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I just came across this tidbit in Boy George's site out of all places: [ http://www.trustthedj.com/boygeorge/news?news=823 ]' *** Ritchie, my sometime drummer and writing partner has just finished his 'Space Monkey' album, which is a bunch of songs, 'Dubbed Up', pure, authentic reggae style. 'The Gorillaz', Damon Alburn, has given Ritchie and his crew free reign to remix their album, but be warned none of it is remotely like the original 'Gorillaz' stuff. Anyway it's out now and if you like deep, dark, rub-a-dub, then go grab a copy! *** So basically no more info than in your review but at least you know now his first name and that he works with BG. :-) Timo --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
