[idm] Autechre Incunabula LP repress question

I recently picked up a copy of the recently repressed Incunabula LP on black vinyl and compared it with my first pressing on silver vinyl. I noticed that, on the gatefold sleeve of the newer edition, alot of the silver coloring is missing. It is very difficult to see the big "Ae" on the cover of the LP. Is my repress a fluke or are they all like this? I've noticed alot of color changes on Warp represses. The CD repress of the Garbage EP, for instance, has a purple/violet colored sleeve instead of navy blue. The LP repress of Tri Repetae has a glossy sleeve instead of the original matte gold. Any comments? -Mike --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hey, it's a repress. while it would be nice to think they would spend the same amount of money and care, i'm less than surprized they're going for the budget option. i deal a lot with printers, and the minute you want something special the price goes up. i just bought a copy of plasikman's musik on vinyl, and the printing's not as special as i remember the original release being. hs -- mind the oranges, marlon! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It wouldn't surprise me if Warp did this on purpose, so people with the originals don't feel cheated, and the represses stand out as actually represses. It also wouldn't surprise me if they went with different printers and didn't care as much about the represses. They're mostly for AE fans anyway, as the casual listener will buy the CD that's still widely available. derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- with lather thingy --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
