The new Future Sound Of London album, "The Isness", has been scheduled for release on August 12 by Hypnotic Records in North America. I assume a UK/European release will take place around the same time. According to the press info I've been sent, the following 15 records influenced the album: 1) The Beatles 'Tomorrow Never Knows' 2) The Chemical Brothers 'Private Psychedelic Reel' 3) Pink Floyd 'Comfortably Numb' 4) Hariprasad Chaurasia 'Flute Ragas' 5) Mercury Rev 'Deserter Songs 6) Ananda Shankar 'Snowflower' 7) The Kinks 'See My Friends' 8) Supertramp 'Illogical Song' 9) ELO 'Mr Blue Sky/ Livin' Thing' 10) John Barry 'Somewhere In Time' 11) Ry Cooder / V.M Bhatt 'A Meeting By The River' 12) David Bowie 'A Space Oddity/ Life On Mars' 13) Miles Davis 'Panthalasa' 14) Rolling Stones '2000 Light Years From Home' 15) The Verve Bittersweet Symphony Should be an interesting listen, if nothing else... I am totally in love with this album...but it is unlike anything they have ever done for sure. It's a straight up prog/psych album. Definitely not Dead Cities pt.2...

If you hate prog, you probably won't like 'The Isness.' -- ^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^- omz beautamous loaf recordings http://www.hotweird.com/loaf/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hello, To me it sounds like they tried to make another "dark side of the moon". "High Tide" sounds like Floyd's "Eclipse" and even the voice at the end reminds me of "there is no dark side in the moon really...". But I like this album anyway, they have always got the right spirit in their music. And the instrumental tracks are more 'modern' and sound a bit like Ozric Tencatles, that isn't bad IMO. Speaking of their 'old' (electronic) style output, I wish they released their 'french live' session, that is now floating around as bad quality mp3s. All tracks except "PNG" and "we have explosive" are inreleased and the material is excellent if you like their music from dead cities / isdn era. uam> not prog rock... bad 60s psychedelic. my favorite FSOL is ISDN and my uam> heart sunk while i listened to the newest. the production is interesting uam> to me, but the music is boring and totally fails to stir any emotion in me uam> whatsoever. -- Best regards, Nick mailto:ambi@mu.ru --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
