Absorb has "My Way" by Akufen as their pick of the issue. It sounds neat, but so did Murcof, thier last pick of the issue. I'm sure Murcof's Martes is a great album but I found it to be a bit on the boring side. I don't think you can compare Akufen and Murcof ... Akufen is more harsh techno, with lots of small sound textures, loops, glitches and breaks ...

Did I sent something ??? I don't think you can compare Akufen and Murcof ... Akufen is more harsh techno, with lots of small sound textures, loops, glitches and breaks ... While murcof is smoother, more ambient, organic, takes a different approch on music. Both are very good but I find murcof a bit better. Hmmm...I don't know that I would call Akufen "harsh techno" by any means - more glitchy and funky than harsh - definitely groovin' material.

i'd say that it's the best release on Force Inc in quite some time. In fact Akufen is one of the few artists whose work has really surprised me lately. All of his releases are worthwhile, but everything starting with Perlon's "Quebec Nightclub" 2x12" release is essential. Most of his material is comprised heavily of snippets of radio and television, all organized over a funky tech-house style that is strictly his own... "My Way" expands on this with some more laid back tracks mixed within the crazier selections, but from about track 4 onward, it's straight-ahead sample-heavy goodness. I highly recommend his material to anyone who's been bored with the more regular tech-house sounds cropping up lately. If you want to hear more for yourself, go to amazon.com and listen to some short realaudio clips... Does anyone know if there are plans for a CD compilation of all the Akufen Trapez "Psychometry" 12" releases? I have vol. 3 and the 2 remix releases that followed, but haven't had the opportunity to check out the first 2... and would love them all on one CD.

I frequent. Akufen is worth checking out. his style is surprising and impressive at first, the way he puts together all his little, disparate, radio samples over big bompy Perlon-like beats. It's kinda got that herky-jerky thing, like Twerk. Fun. But it's pretty gimmicky. It wears thin. There's also the problem of his using the same gimmick again and again. I wish "My Way" were more of a departure from his previous releases, and I wish even more that his next full length shows how he's a lot bigger than this one idea. Personally I enjoy it for a song or two at a time and I don't come back to it that often.
