YES PLEASE! WE WANT BOLA!! (also string theory. mmmm, anhedonia...) sadly, i am told there is no west coast component to the tour. -rachel (aka dj pie) piesarenice.net -- <marklar> I cried that I had no lever, until I met a man with no fulcrum. On Mon, 3 Jun 2002, Albers, Brian wrote:

Not IDM but should be groovy. ghede@well.com http://www.quietamerican.org ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Subject: FW: Krishna Lila CD Release: Saturday June 8, 2002 dj Cheb i Sabbah Krishna Lila Coming in Spring 2002 For his long awaited follow-up record, dj Cheb i Sabbah again traveled to India where he recorded musicians and vocalists in Bombay and Madras. He weaves them into his distinctly Cheb i Sabbah mix, where traditional sounds meet "DJ Science," in the same spirit of his Six Degrees debut, Shri Durga. On Krishna Lila Hindustani and Carnatic styles are represented in this collection of Krishna bhajans with an emphasis on devotional music. "Cheb i Sabbah is one of the foremost practitioners of trans-global (in his case, trance-global) rhythm swapping, a concept he had practiced long before it earned a rack at Tower Records." - SF Weekly "Cheb i Sabbah goes far beyond the role of a DJ or even a remixer. Not only is he an authority on Hindustani and Carnatic music, but he is a reverent man placing sacred music in a modern musical context." - Alternative Press Magazine "Cheb i compares his DJing to theatre and is more interested in opening windows into other worlds for a few hours rather than spinning what happens to be hot for a couple of months." - Straight No Chaser -----Original Message----- From: Chebiji@aol.com [mailto:Chebiji@aol.com] Sent: Fri 5/17/2002 10:25 AM To: undisclosed-recipients Cc: Subject: Krishna Lila CD Release: Saturday June 8, 2002 1002 NIGHTS dj Cheb i Sabbah Krishna Lila CD Release A JAYA RADHE EVENT Featuring: Anurag Harsh: voice Debo Priyo Sarkar: tabla Mitch Hyare: dhol Asako Takami: Odissi Brinda & Swetha Dixit: Bharatanatyam 1008 Gopis visuals Meenu: mehndi Shakti chat & chai Saturday June 8, 2002 Doors 9:00 - Show 11:00 Tickets available at the door the night of the show: $12 StudioZ 314 11th St. @ Folsom. Every Monday night there is a cool music night at the Hush Hush lounge (in the Mission District on 14th Street near Guerrero) Sometimes you can hear the likes of Detroit Techno and Phoenicia... usually pretty cool low-key crowd and awesome bartender Tracy! ALSO if you are going to be around for the last Sunday of the month, this party called HOT HAIR CARE will be at the Galaxy Club, on Haight Street near Stanyan... they will be playing electro, techno, italo-disco, new wave, & sextrax (their own description). I'd bet that this will be a really really good show, and it's only $3 or $5! The Galaxy Club will have a cool night on the Third Sunday of the month as well. ALSO, the DNA Lounge, in the SOMA district (infamous for its clubs) has some pretty cool nights on Thursday nights... they call it d:CODE/n:CODE and they alternate between awesome techno/psytrance (n:CODE) and electro/drum n bass/broken beats (d:CODE). Whatever you do, it is my opinion that you AVOID 1015 Folsom and Ruby Skye. Also, stop in Aquarius Records on Valencia Street in the Mission to abscond some flyers and assault the people behind the counter for more information! :) And have fun! MORE DETAILED INFO BELOW! (sorry everybody for so much info...) ~love tara ........................
