I occaisionally have free time in big expensive studios. I figure most electronic musicians don't, so I had some the other night put on disc 3 of clicks and cuts 2 on in the $10,000 speakers. There was also a graphic stereo/phase meter to look at. I put on the cyclo track (#9) and these apparently very intentional spinning patterns started popping up on that graphic display. Does anyone know if that song, c5.1, was made staring at one - and if so how coz no one at the studio could figure it out. I doubt it was just an accident because just about every sustained sound creates a pattern. Sorry I couldn't be more specific about that meter but I don't know what it's called so I guess it would be kind of dumb to ask if anyone knows if there are any plugins that do this but are there? Any information would be appreciated. -peter --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

maybe it is a very simple process. i think they are using advanced dc offset and asymmetrical amplitude modulation to make these scope effects. you can do some similar patterns with stable sine tones which are phase shifted (eg. left channel: 0º, right channel: 90º) and its amplitudes are modulated. interesting, but nothing special. ;) greetings, nox http://porousher.net (sounds, web installations, flash apps, etc.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
