Not that I'm aware of. Last I heard, the next Clear release was to be a Gescom EP (CLR 408, Sean Booth and Rob Brown) followed by an Android EP (CLR 409, Andy Turner and Ed Handley). Andy and Ed are indeed Plaid or two-thirds of Black Dog Productions. :: Alan M. Parry :: fluid@hyperreal.com :: <finger me for PGP key> :: http://hyperreal.com/~fluid

Hmmm. I was wondering because I saw this entry in Resonance records' catalog: T74 12" Plaid Plaid E.P. Clear $9.99 Black Dog 4 track! Contains an awesome Jungle track! I haven't contacted them about availability or anything, but it *was* in their "New Releases for the week of 3-20-95 to 3-26-95" mailing... - Matthew

On Monday 27th I posted a mini-review / reminder that this was out (item titled "Out today") - also reminding of the availability of G-Spot and Ventolin. And nobody took any notice. Ah well. obNotWhingeing - Speedy J's G-Spot LP is brilliant - comes highly recommended. Lots of beautiful synths, and hefty funky rhythms, plus some neat ambience. I will attempt a review later in the week if I can find the time.... Also , does anyone have any idea when CLR408 will be available, and what if any connection there is between this and GESCOM 2 on SKAM which some seem to have been lucky enough to procure (notably John Burrell - I Quote:

Yup, it is. Picked it up on Saturday. (God bless Mod Lang!) Not sure if it's actually called the Android EP - it's just a "Plaid e.p." according to the spine. White cover with blue lettering of 'Plaid', with that graffiti look. I forget if it's CLR 408 or 409, but track listing goes: A1. Android A2. Anything B1. Angry Dolphin B2. Yak ...and, fighting the urge to hype it to death, it's pritty darn good. Lots of the trademark rhythmic acrobatics, esp. on Angry Dolphin. Not exactly electro, I think. Now why didn't they play stuff like this when they were in SF? :) ...James

It's definately out. I've had it for a week. It's pretty good Black Dogish-stuff but not my favourite thing from the Black Dog camp. I'm not a fan of electro or jungle... Tony

UNless there's ANOTHER Plaid ep, I have the Clear one. It's a white cover with "PLAID" in fonkee graff-stylee in blue. The trax go: 1.android 2.anything 3.angry dolphin 4.yak Pretty good, especially after I only found two songs on the last BD LP to float my boat. I think BYTES was sooo much better! (I'm not trying to get into the this-vs-that thing...just that BYTES has been put down lately and I wanted to say it was one of my favorite LPs of all tyme). I miss old-sounding BDP! Oh well...I guess you can't just keep making your old stuff over and over....too bad :( -morgan geist

PLAID - clear (clr409) cut and pasted by andy and ed four tracks a android * anything A angry dolphin * yak the TWO on the WHITE side i am constantly looking at. (that means listening to btw) the outer combines the rush of the jungle bass rumble (just the rumble) and "boltesque" space gestures. gradually, and with delightful anticipation, plaid translates a really fly rolling box trot. tre funky dog. minimal BDP sounds for the 90's. like an 808 souped up "time has come" it's not to be missed. the inner groove on the WHITE side comes in like a masters at work deep house anthem complete with funky organ stabs. not before long you are quickly reminded this is idm tribal electronics. loads of fun little breaks (of silence) and pauses which make this a real treat to boogie down to. the blue side has two tracks that i've yet to find time to discover. yet another high card in the clear deck which, despite those calling their bluff, certainly looks to be pushing a full house. i've got my net trolling text in a file that will try and sort the three all out. i just listened to the new plaid ep today on cd...and although it is nice enough, it seems as though it lacks the funk that makes plaid stand out to me as better than other laptop jockeys. there may be a driving beat, but without the funkiness, it's kind of boring to me. on the other hand, i've really been enjoying cloinc's 'lonely bits' album...lots of fun and funk, as well as gorgeous melodies...if i had to change anything, i'd ask for fewer sampled voices, but other than that, i love it. thinking about that made me go and put on 'balloon', another andre estermann project. mmmm. -rachel (aka dj pie) piesarenice.net -- <marklar> I cried that I had no lever, until I met a man with no fulcrum. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

cloinc is actually andre + jan bruhnke (did the electric sheep EP on MaS a few years back). lonely bits really is pretty good. i agree that some of the samples are a bit repetitive, but the funk and the chromatic raindrop melodies which estermann excels at make it lovely. respect, Jeff Davis fon: 216.266.69696 pHlow@earthlink.net fax: 216.266.2360 home.earthlink.net\~phlow cel: 216.533.6303 hyperreal.org\music\rotator\ -----Original Message----- From: omz [mailto:omz23@speakeasy.net] Sent: Wednesday, May 15, 2002 10:57 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] plaid ep
