Andrew Duke's latest musical activities..
--------------
Just wanted to give you an update on my latest musical activities.
Bip-Hop Generation v.5 (Bip-Hop, Marseille, France;
http://bip-hop.com)
features a number of international electronic music artists and includes
one track from myself (recorded live to DAT with a near-death keyboard,
thus the gritty sound). Here in Halifax, the compilation entered CKDU's
Top 30 last week at #15 and is at #6 this week; has been at #1 the last two
weeks on CKDU's Electronic music chart.
My next full length, "Sprung", is out in late June or so on Bip-Hop (it was
originally scheduled for March, but the pressing plant is about 2 months
behind schedule). Advance feedback to CDRs has been extremely positive.
Steb Sly (who has recorded for a number of North American electronic music
labels) will be remixing one of the album tracks. As soon as I get the
final copies of "Sprung", you will be mailed a promo. Canadian and US
distribution for Bip-Hop releases is currently being finalized so soon
everything from Bip-Hop will be available at independent stores as well as
chain stores.
I have been asked to do remixes recently for a number of artists including
Club Telex Noise Ensemble (from Finland) featuring Germany's Chicks On
Speed (who played here in Halifax last year), Washington DC's Phonopsia
(
http://www.mp313.com), and Mister Nobu (Nobu Adilman, who recently hosted
4 episodes of Zed.TV on CBC with his bro; Nobu is formally of Rick Of The
Skins and I'm remixing 3 cuts from his "C'mon Wid Your C'mon" album that
got a great response on radio last year).
To keep things fresh for 2002, I will doing some collaborations this year
with the following:
Polmo Polpo [Toronto; aka Sandro Perri; records for Audi Sensa (Toronto),
Substractif/Alien8recordings (Montreal), and Under Constructing (Tokyo)]
Mike Donovan [San Francisco; has worked with Kit Clayton and Chris Douglas
aka O.S.T./Qlipothic/Rook Vallade; records for ( )Dial Records (San
Francisco), Folding Cassettes (San Francisco), Plug Research (Los Angeles),
and ~scape (Germany)]
Nicole Elmer [Texas; aka Neutral, Squab Teen; records for Ad Noiseam
(Germany), Chromosome 57 (New Orleans), Component (Connecticut, USA), Hymen
(Germany), LazyLine, Mad Monkey (Austin, Texas), n5MD (Oakland,
California), and Planet Mu (UK)]
Lots of compilation appearances and albums planned for later in the year;
I'll let you know about those in the future.
