4/29/02 Dallas-ish (Reuterz) - Super secret mystery band booked for event; millions puzzled "How does Hime do it?" they ask. Andrew Hime announced today that he has booked a super-secret mystery band for the Sunday night of his cosuardstockapaloozathon 2002 fest event, held annually in late May. People around the world are fraught with tension and indecision about whether to be excited or remain indifferent. Those few who have opted for excitement are wondering how Hime, 25 and currently living in Denton, manages to book so many great bands every year. Josh Baish offers one possibility - "It's just whichever band's ass he has his head up this week." Baish, owner of Denton indie rock venue Rubber Gloves, has never himself had a head up anyone's ass, though many will admit to getting screwed by him. Hime offers another theory - "I think some bands like an opportunity to play to a different crowd at a low cost and give something back to their loyal fans at the same time. It's an opportunity for a band like Chomsky to play to a smaller crowd, and opportunity for acts like Mac IX vs the Carbon Community, Prescott Curlywolf, and Deadman to play to a crowd who is not familiar with their music." Indie rockers far and wide were alarmed at the mention of a "techno" act playing such an event and guaranteed they would crap their pants, especially if the act were good. Hime is mum on who the super secret mystery band is - "I signed a contract swearing to not reveal the name of the band or person. All I can say is it's not Creed, and they're coming from Europe." cosuardstockapaloozathon 2002 fest is an annual event. It will be Friday May 24th through Sunday May 26th, also known as "Memorial Day Weekend". Friday and Saturday are at Muddy Waters in Lower Greenville. Admission is $5 for 18-20 and $3 for 21 and up. Sunday is at Barley House in Lower Greenville. Admission is free for 18+.
