I know each of my records by name and record sleeve art work, before a mix I
always do a rough mix to see which records blend well together, when to cue
up a record make your transitions ect...
I also put a piece of tape beside the 1200 pitch adjustment and mark the
spot of each record with a pen so I can quickly cue the records for a mix
without wasting too much time w/ the pitch adj.
When recording a mix CD I go over a mix set and mark where each record
perfectly syncs on the pitch adj. and record each individual track into
Protools.
I arrange all the stereo tracks in Protools run them back out the individual
outs on my sound card into to the stereo channels on my DJ mixer so I have a
flawless, pre-planned pre-arranged mix, where I can practice making flawless
transitions with the cross fader.
II run the mater out on my dj mixer back into the sound card inputs.
It sounds like a perfect mix, I'm too the point now where I'm experimenting
with incorporating trainwrecks into my mix, purposely making records sound
slightly off sync so people will think I'm struggling with a mix on two
1200's.
